gift giving question

money is tight right now (it is for so many!) and so wayne and i went hunting for cheap gift ideas today. since i love scrapping already we've decided to give some friends/family a framed page for their gifts....problem is...when we've given them to people in the past they always pass it around and go (for example)"oh that's so nice Karen!" And Wayne's left there thinking "hey...that's from both of us...I bought the frame..." lol. I always feel bad for him. Anyone else ever have a similar problem? I think he just feels like he's being left out of the gift giving and that people will think he's just signed his name to something I've made.

Thats a really good point. Is there any way that he can be involved in what you do? Like my DH is really good at all things digital and if I were to do something like that and if he felt left out I would have him help do something digital then I would add my own touch after that. IDK I guess it all depends on what your DH wants to do and what he's capable of. Or you could make something different together. Like a special ornament or create a small gift basket, and he could pick out some candy, jam, wine, cheese, etc and you could still do your picture.

Sorry can't really help as we have the same problem here. When family tells me it's nice I say thanks, I just had to make it he has to pay for it all. I just say it in a joking matter to make dh feel like he has a part in it also.

Could he help decorate the frames in some way, maybe carve names in some wood frames or something similar?

those are great ideas. He always tries to give a few tidbits of input so I'll just get him to physically arrange a few things on the page, stick some down, etc and then it really is from both of us Smile Thanks girls

I don't know if I can share most of them because they are of our daycare kids for their parents...I can ask though...since they already post pics of their kids on facebook cute kid contests and stuff. lol I will ask this week.

I think what you decided is good....let him take a little part of the creating, then you "both" made it! I understand that though, because everyone does the same thing to me...."nice Charys", etc. and Scott kindof gets left out of the whole thing. lol. Guess I need to do the same thing. I hope you are able to share them with us. I'd love to see them!

I can see where you are coming from. I plan on making some homemade gifts this year. This one in particular. I don't know if Randall will care. I usually do the shopping anyways. Wink
