    Default Help with cover page

So I'm making a photobook for Nanny (Dh's grandma). She turned 80 in August and at her party, we took lots of pictures of all the family with their offspring. Anyways, I wanted to make a book for nanny that had all the pictures of everyone together. I am struggling like nobody's business trying to design a cover for this thing!! I don't want to put any pictures on the cover, because I want to use them for the inside pages. I've played around and this is what I've come up with. I have stumbled upon some awesome fantasy-like scrapping, so I wanted to give it a try. It looks like something is missing.. like something should be on the right hand side... i don't know.. PLEASE be honest and give me your comments and criticism. I haven't worked on any pages for this book because I am stuck on the cover.

can you add a picture of her on the cover, where the color and the opacity are both reduced and she's feathered in? I'm struggling with explaining it but I see it perfectly in my head. I mean, the book is for her, why not put her on the cover?

I think it sounds like a neat idea with the fantasy stuff.

Hmmmm ... I like it, but for a 'fantasy' scene there's no definition between the green 'grass' and the 'sky' (that looks like what it is to me anyways). Maybe try a cast shadow off the easel too?

I am usually not much help, but how bout putting a different design on the easal and then putting the Poole family on the right hand corner in some fashion??? I do agree that something needs to go there. Just not sure what. I really like it though Linda.

I think that would look good.

Thank you girls for your suggestions!! I will play around a little bit later on (if I finish packing sometime tonight!)

I hesitated putting Nanny's picture on there because of all the pictures I have of her, she has a silly grin or a serious face... I guess she doesn't smile for pictures? Anyways, but I like the idea of maybe feathering her in or lowering the opacity..i'll give that a whirl.

Trina- as for the scene itself, it's just the way the paper is. I tried various background papers, but didn't really like them. I'll try the cast shadow though, that will give it some depth. I'll have to dig out the tutorial on how to do that on PSE.... (wherever I put that!)

I'll also try to find a picture to put on the easel - or put some of the fantasy elements together to make a picture and then put our family name on the right side.....

Thanks so much girls!!! I'll post it after I've played around with your suggestions and ask for some feedback.

I'm leaving for NY (again, the second time in 2 weeks!) to spend Thanksgiving with our families. I'll try to get to this before then so I can move on with this book.. otherwise It will have to wait til I get back.

I like it as it is, but think the shadow for the easel would be a good addition. I don't think you need anything else on the cover.
