Wow, this is already so much fun!! I have had serious font envy...now I've downloaded about 400 new fonts and figured out how to at least find them in Word...now off to figure out PSE!!
I lurk here *all the time* and finally have decided to get off my rump and try to actually do some digital stuff...
I got Elements 7 for Christmas and just downloaded it a few days ago. Silly m/s has had me feeling pretty yucky until now.
So I was looking at the sticky page at some of the freebie downloads for graphics I can use as a beginner.
Is there any particular free download that yall would recommend? Particularly for ease of use/compatability with Elements, and of course for cuteness!
Honestly, the first thing I want to try to do is make something simple that I can print for my DD's birthday invitation.
I feel like I know all of you already from my many months of lurking, and I look forward to posting more.

I'm also digital, and almost all freebies you can find on the web will be compatible with PSE. Designers use PNG or JPG files that are compatible with most graphic programs. I think to start, you should have an idea about the first page you want to do (either the photo, or title, etc) then look thru the list to see if there's any colors/elements that strike your fancy.
A good place to start for doing your very first page is here:
Go to the list on the right and browse thru there to see where to start, how to do your first page, etc.
If you have any questions just ask! There are a couple girls here that use PSE, I use PS CS2, so it's similar, and someone should be able to help you out!
I just tried to download my first free font files.
I believe I "unzipped" them and they are saved on my desktop BUT I have looked at some tutorials and can't figure out for the life of me how to USE these fonts!
Each font is saved as a seperate .ttf file - when I click on that file, it looks like an email with those fonts comes up.
When I try to access the fonts in Word or PSE, I can't find them...
I'm no help on digital either but wanted to say Welcome!!!
With font files, you need to drag them into your font folder. You can find it in your control panel. Once it is in your font folder (already unzipped of course) it will automatically show up in your programs.
Welcome! Just a caution with your fonts - too many makes your 'puter run really slow ... 400 is not too many (I have over 1000, but I find over that is too many). You might want to google "The Font Thing" to keep track of all your fonts It's a freeware program.
