I tried and ...

I tried to create a digital scrapbook page today. My goal is one scrapbook page a day during quiet time, and it's always been paper, cause that's what I do. But seeing what some of you girls do has been inspiring.

So I downloaded some kits, fired up The Gimp, and started working on a page (for the love challenge, no less). And it hosed my computer. I had to reboot. I gave it a good hour to come back (it was a RAM hog!) and no luck.

I will try again, but not for a few days at least, as I have to still crop the paper page I blew off today.

But I just had to share ... digital scrapbooking hung my computer!

Lol

I think there's a message there for me. ha ha ha

oh man! Ive thought about jumping on the digital side too, but I think I'd have the same issues. That, and i'd get stuck with technical problems.

Delia - yeah, a new computer isn't in the budget. :lol I wonder if I can use Picture It to make a page? I'm not giving up, but I can't let my attempts set me back on catching up on my paper (I'm about 100 layouts behind current date). I went to see Harry Potter last night, so no cropping after kid bedtime. Wink

I am in the same boat. My computer doesn't want me to do digi scrapbooking. It takes me about 3 hours to do a page. New computer isn't in our budget either. I do use Picture It though. I think it works well. The only problem with it, is I can't edit my pics like I would like to.

Picture it works well.

Sadie, how come you can't edit your pictures well? Is it because of memory troubles on your computer or do you have an older version of the program?

Don't worry, that's what happened to me to.

I need a new computer but can't afford one. As you can see I haven't done anything new lately, i was taking a break because I had to get through Kira's bday party and OMG do I have a great cake face pics. Lol

:? I know, it does take up a lot of memory on the computer. DH wants to 'get me my own computer' (I think because I'm bogging ours down with so much digi-scrappin' stuff!)

you can use picture it for sure!! that's what i use these days.. my computer is really slow too and i had to get rid of photoshop and scrapbook deluxe because we don't have enough space for all 3 programs Sad

sadie.. you should be able to edit the pages... if you save them as .jpg's you can't edit them but if you save them as .png fiels then you can edit them later!!! Smile

Well, I was meaning like I can't color enhance certain things or I can't make the pictures look like I want. I can edit the page, but not the pics like I want. I have version 7.0. Is that old?

Picasa is GREAT for enhancing the actual photos - I use it all of the time. Not sure if you have tried that.
