Default I'm an aunt (OT and XP)

Previous history for those not aware: my brother and SIL had to have a surrogate in order to have biological children. MY step-sis volunteered. It has been a long and expensive process. The surrogate lives about an hour from me, but my brother lives on the east coast (military).

My brother's twins were born on Friday. It was a big event. My brother and SIL DID NOT make it in time for the birth. They were born at 32 weeks and 5 days (about 4.5 lbs each). They are really pleased with how they are doing for their age. The girls are breathing on their own, although it is hard for them. They introduced breastmilk by feeding tube yesterday (my SIL worked hard to be at this point where she can breastfeed them).

Anyway, I wish they had stayed in a few more weeks, but I'm happy they are doing well.

I'm excited to be an aunt and wanted to share.

Yay Stephanie!! That is sooo great that they are doing well and I hope they continue to do well. I am so impressed she is BF...I seriously didn't even know that was possible. Wow!!! So the surrogate is by you but your brother lives over here? So they have to drive them all the way back once they are well? Wow!! How exciting and amazing!! Congrats!!!

Yep, the BF is great. I encouraged her towards it, but it was a long process for her. She is tenacious though and found doctors/consultants that knew what they were doing. She only gets about 1/2 oz on each side right now, but I think it will be just fine once the babies start sucking.

    They will fly back home.

Wow, it seems like you just found out they were pregnant, so to speak. Then I remember when you found it was 2 girls, and now they're here! How exciting!!! Congrats Stephanie!!! Such an amazing journey of love. And so amazing that your SIL is going to breastfeed. I know that takes so much time and patience. I knew of someone else that did that too. I think my sis and I were born at 32 weeks also. YAY for them being over 4 lbs. each!
