Jack's 7 month layout - I need help

So this layout has been days in the making, from concept to almost completion. Had to buy the right papers for it, and figure out how to present the journaling. I really wanted to use transparent letters for the title ... but they don't stand out. I tried doing an "outline" where I draw on the inside of the letters, but it looked awful. I could trace them, but am afraid of screwing that up too. Any suggestions?

I know I need to catch up on replies here. For some reason I'm all stressed out and I don't know why. I think I just have too much going on, all self imposed. And my kids are driving me nuts today. I'd have a beer right now if I didn't have to drive.

Anyhow, here's the layout and a close up of the title.

Journaling:

It’s busy times here! You are so much fun at 7 months.

Communication: You are so chatty you are when you wake from a nap. You usually just hang out and talk to yourself. You’re saying so much more than “mamamama” now … you’re saying “dadada” too, which Daddy loves, and you make some other sounds too, including “baba”. By the middle of this month, you were signing “more” when you wanted something else to eat.

Edibles: You love to eat, and you feed yourself Cheerios. More end up in your seat than in your mouth, but it’s still a success. You also became a fan of Rice Krispies, yum!

Pearly whites: You have a tooth!!! It’s your bottom right tooth (left when I look at you). The left one is on its way too, you’re gnawing on everything.

Mobility: You finally started rolling both directions, and by the end of the month, you were rolling all over the place to get where you wanted to go. You’re also trying to move more when you’re on your belly. You’re not up on all fours yet, but you’re trying…

What if you put them on the black paper? Do they show up then?

well, putting them on black would just make the black shiney. I wanted transparent letters, but without something to guide the eyes to it, they're invisible. which makes sense.

I'm wondering if I can rub them on stamp pad just to color them the tiniest bit (I'd have to rub them sticky side down). Was hoping to work on this some more tonight, but things just haven't been great here. Jack had his 1 year check up, now I have to get him evaluated for early intervention and he has to see a pediatric neurologist. Sad He's probably fine, just a little bit delayed. But still, that sucks.

Then Andrew's had two raging headaches today, and without checking with me, he took an adult dose of Tylenol Sinus. The packaging is labeled such that a child taking that dose would have an overdose, so I had to call the on-call ped. It was the same one we saw this afternoon. She's so nice. She said that he'll be fine. He cried for almost an hour about his head, but then he was fine. He has a friend spending the night, so I was hoping it wouldn't last too long.

And then if you've seen my FB status, you'll see the troubles that have plagued me the past two hours. I can't print. Ay yi yi. I should just go to bed.

Hmm. I was thinking you just might want to glitter them or something. Sorry, not much help.

Tia uses them well, I wonder how she makes them work? I think what Trina ment was if you use a black box to mount the letters on will they pop better against the black versus the red/peach/whatever.

I kind of like your idea of stamping them on the sticky side. I would use a dark ink and try it with a letter you know you won't be using first just to test it. Touch it really lightly so you have a spongy look with just a faint amount of color.

I'm glad you asked this because I have some clear letters I bought recently that I have yet to use and I bet I'll run into the same issue.

The layout is gorgeous Gwen! I love everything about it, but you are right, the letters just disappear. I don't have any experience with paper scrapping stuff so I don't have any suggestions, but I can't wait to see what you come up with on it.

Gosh girl, I am so sorry life is so stressful right now and will keep Jack in my thoughts and prayers okay? I hope all is okay with him. And glad to hear your other son's headache went away. Poor guy. Sad

I really like the LO, but see where you need help. I have nothing to suggest other than changing the letters. When I look at it, I would use black lettering...but I know you want to stick with the clear. GL and update when you're done with it okay?

Can you cut out 7 months out of the pattern car paper. Then add the 7 in a normal plain font. For the word months use a font that is kinda the same as the clear letters. Then add the clear letters with a stapler over the paper letters. They dont have to be right on top. Think of it like a shadow. The staples will make the clear letters pop. I would leave the # 7 just paper though so it is not too much. That might be way too hard after all the stress that you have going on. Just an idea

hey, that's a cool idea! I think I will have to try that. Smile

btw, the paper on the right is red, not sure why it looks lighter here.

I'm also going to buy some solvent ink today so that I can use it on the acetate letters in the future.

Very cute LO, I hope you are able to figure something out to fix the invisible letters. I hope things calm down for you, it sounds like you have a lot going on. My prayers go out to Jack for a perfect visit!

I like it! I would use some of that car paper in the title, whether it's just the 7 or the entire title. That paper is so cute.

Do they show up better IRL? I know my acrylic titles don't photograph well, but show up better IRL. Personally I love the page! Maybe taking Tia's idea of shadowing the letters a bit would be cool....but I love the look of it now actually.

no, they don't show up better. I meant to work on that page tonight, but I just got the kids to bed 10 minutes ago (let them watch a movie) and I'm working on the digital editing class I'm taking. I'm 3 days behind in my assignments. Juggling way too much! But I miss scrapbooking!
