Kaitlyn is sick We spent 2.5 hrs at the ER last night because she woke up about an hour after going to bed and she could barely breathe (you could see/hear her struggling). Let me tell you, going to the ER with 'flu-like' symptoms when there's a 'flu pandemic' is NOT fun. They put us in isolation and told us 'Don't touch anything'. She was so scared of everyone (dr's/nurses) because they were dressed in masks, paper suits, gloves, the whole 9 yards while trying to see what was the matter with her. I'm grateful he took the time to actually look her over and not just assume it's the flu, because of the season.
Turns out the cough/breathing thing is nothing (!!! I beg to differ!!!) but she has an ear infection, tonsil infection and fever, but her lungs sound ok. She's on antibiotics, and tylenol/motrin combo for the next 5 days (well, when I pick up her prescription this morning) with instructions to come back if she becomes lethargic or stops drinking fluids. We had a rough night with her after we got back (to be expected, after getting home from the ER!), she slept on an off and she woke up every time either covered in sweat or shaking with chills. I'll have to be off work for the week, the dayhome won't take her when she's on medication and dh can't get the time off this week. *sigh* Good thing I work for my parents and they won't mind me taking the time off!
