Look at me go!!!

I got three more pages done this week. Wink I'd like to do more, but DH is coming home tonight (after being gone for 33 days) so I don't think I'll be working on pages for a while. Besides, I want to sew next week. Lol

Two for Natalie's professional pictures book.

Four Months May 2006 (not sure if you can read the title, it does show up better in person, but I also should have used different paper to shadow the letters)

Natalie in her baptism gown, May 2006
Not sure I should have used the blue mats ... but I edged them with bronze ink and think they came out okay. I AM happy with the double mat on the smaller picture though. I used stamp letters for the title, which I don't like to do because I can't seem to do it evenly (not thrilled at all with how it came out). Cut the cross out of the same brown paper I used for the second mat on the smaller picture.

And then for the song lyrics challenge I did a layout for my first U2 concert ever (I haven't missed a tour since then, 21 years ago!). That's me on the far left. The picture was taken with a 110 film camera, and is so grainy. I had it in a frame ever since then, and just took it out now to do this page. (I have two 8x10s of the two INXS concerts I went to, but I won't be doing layouts for those - I barely remember them, where I remember almost everything about the U2 concert). Posting this here so that I can share all of the details about it because I don't want to post all of the journaling on the challenge thread.

Journaling under the picture

September 25th, 1997 . . . Joshua Tree Tour . . . My first U2 concert, of many. I was just shy of my 15th birthday when I saw U2 in concert for the first time. Paula, Micky, Cryssi and I (along with my dad, the chauffer) went to JFK Stadium in Philadelphia to see U2. Little Steven opened up for them. We didn’t have assigned seats, just field tickets. The crowd was huge, and we were young. We moved with the surge of the crowd, to the fence that separated the field from the stage. Each of us ended up getting tossed over the fence (it was suffocating in the crowd). You couldn’t hang out behind the fence – you had to either leave, find a seat back in the stadium, or go back on the field. Paula ended up back at the car, missing the show. Micky went back to the field. Cryssi almost passed out, and came close to seeing the band as she recovered. She rejoined the crowd on the field before the band took stage. I wasn’t up for the crowd again, so I sat on the seats off to the side, near a couple of girls from Ireland. I don’t know about Dad, I guess he just stayed with the crowd the whole time and enjoyed the concert. The show was incredible!!!! Bruce Springsteen appeared for the encore, which was a total surprise. And the energy of U2 on stage, it’s just something else entirely. (Maybe that’s one of the reasons I haven’t missed a tour since). I will never forget my first U2 concert ever . . .

Song lyrics written by hand (in my HORRIBLE handwriting). These are from my favorite songs on the Joshua Tree album (since it was the Joshua Tree tour)

I want to run
I want to hide
I want to tear down the walls
That hold me inside
I want to reach out
And touch the flame
Where the streets have no name

Through the storm we reach the shore
You give it all but I want more
And I'm waiting for you
With or without you
With or without you
I can't live
With or without you

You know he got the cure...but then he went astray,
He used to stay awake
To drive the dreams he had away
He wanted to believe
In the hands of love...

Great pages!!! The one about the concert is a cool idea. I love the journaling idea of putting it under the picture. You can say a lot that way. Smile

The baptism page looks really good. I like your double mat, too. I think the letters look just fine in the first page.

Nice work!

The two professional pages for Natalie's book are cute. Her dresses are adorable! I love the cross you hand-cut too.

And I can't believe you haven't missed a single U2 concert. You need to write and tell them. Maybe you'll get to go up on stage with them. Biggrin I love the hidden journaling!!!!

I'm a U2 fanatic! Lol Bono just does something to my heart. I was 8 feet away from him at the last concert (I was about 6 months pregnant with Natalie - I was about 8 months pregnant (I think) with Andrew the concert before that). But I doubt they'd hook me up if I told them I never missed a tour. There are fans that follow them, they have to come to my town for me to see them. ha ha ha ha
