Hi ladies! Sorry I have been so completely MIA! Things have been crazy here...surprise pregnancy (don't remember if I announced that here - I have not been around pg.org much in general), which in turn led to house selling and house shopping. And of course morning sickness and exhaustion! I have done ZERO scrapping and in fact I packed up some of my stuff when we were showing the house so I don't even know if I could scrap at this point even if I had the time or energy, lol.
Anyway, I am starting to think about how we will be decorating the kids' rooms at the new house because I know once we actually start moving I won't have time to be messing with that. They have always shared a room so this is the first time we will be really going all out with a girly girl room (Lindsay has requested a princess room) and a boyish room (Evan is thinking he wants to go with a sports theme). I would love to hear any ideas you might have! The more budget friendly, the better!
For Lindsay I am already planning on a canopy over the bed, a beaded light, and I would like to make a frame for the wall with something princess themed in it (tiaras or something). A year or two ago I remember seeing some of you posting pictures of frames you had done with a whole bunch of cricut cuts. I think I remember a butterfly one, can't think who would have posted that. Ashley, I thought you might have done one too? Anybody have a picture they could post again for me or remember who did these so I could send a pm?
For Evan I was thinking maybe a scoreboard on the wall and some mini canvases on the wall with different sports equipment (baseball, basketball, etc.) on them. IDK though!
I have had a severe lack of mojo these last few months, so I would appreciate any ideas you can throw my way!!!
Hi Katie! That sounds like a lot all at once!!
Do you know what you're having?!
I did do a butterfly frame ~ it was super simple! Iused a butterfly punch I have but you could obviously use your Cricut! Charys did an airplane one very similar for her boys' rooms. I thought I had it in my photobucket account but I must have deleted it. This was my inspiration though!
Another cute idea is the lampshade - remember Charys shared one awhile back with airplanes? She used cricut cuts on vinyl and then painted in the negative space on the vinyl. That'd be cute, and simple, with butterflies, birds, etc!
Vinyl cuts are easy, too to put on the walls! Oh My Crafts (.com) has vinyl super cheap by the sheet in every color imagineable!
I am working on decorating our nursery too. Have to get done with the painting (hoping to be done tomorrow!) before I can get to the fun stuff!
Awesome! Thanks so much!! I couldn't remember if you and Charys had done them all in one color or if they were multi-colored. Thanks for the link - I love that example! I am going to borrow the princess cartridge from my SIL so I will have to see what all is on there.
We don't know what we're having yet. Our u/s is the 22nd, and we are leaning toward finding out the gender this time around, although we will probably wait to find out at a little gender reveal party with our families.
Thanks for the other ideas, too. I have never tried vinyl but I have a friend who was trying to show me how to use it once. I should ask her to tutor me again!
A princess crown would be cute to do in the frame if you go w/the princess theme!
Vinyl is super easy! And once you try it once...you'll want to put vinyl all over your house!
I'm doing Jack's right now, with a Cars theme. Something you might want to do, if you're so inclined, is canvases with letters of their names. With Jack, I'm doing a Cars character with each letter. It's a work in progress, hope to share photos soon.
For my girls, they don't have much of a theme, as they have different interests but share a room. There are framed Disney princesses on the wall, which Jordan just doesn't love. ha ha ha Someday I'll do something different.
Anyhow, stay tuned, as I hope to share what I've accomplished with Jack's room. Of course, you can always check it out on Facebook, as I've been updating there as I've been going along.
