looking for help ... kinda OT

You ladies have a good eye for asthetics ...

I put this framed pic of Carson above my mantel and it looks so small up there. I don't know what to do with all the empty space around it. I was thinking of maybe a peice or word art on top of the pic (I'm not sold on that, though). What do you ladies think? Do I need something else to fill the space on top and/or on the sides? Also, I hung the pic to line up with the color change ... was that a mistake?

I drew the red line to show where the vertical wall stops. From the line up it is a 45 degree angle for a few feet before it turns into ceiling. As you can see, the angled wall is painted to match the vertical wall.

First, love the paint colors in your home! So pretty! Oh geez, I'm not good with house decorating. I don't know if I'd add anything, but I don't have an eye for it either.

Hmmm...I see what you mean...it almost needs a bigger frame maybe? I don't think it's the prints and frame as much as it is the size of it...if that makes any sense.

Great pics though.

i think id probably hang it up higher. i know you were trying to put it between the color change but i think if you put it up higher it will balance with the wall and the fireplace. but thats just my suggestion.
the pic/frame itself is fine

I would put it up a bit higher too.

When Christmas is over and you take your holiday decor down I would put something tall setting on the mantle. Maybe a potted plant on one side and some candle sticks or some more framed pictures on the other.

how funny. that is almost exactly what i have on my mantle during the off-season. a vase with a tall, dried arrangement on one side and tall candlesticks on the other.
