Hi, everyone! I lurk often on preg.org and I find myself in need of scrapbooking advice. I've been invited to a baby shower and we're all supposed to create one page of a scrapbook "skeleton" for the baby's first year. I've been assigned the month of June. I have ZERO experience with scrapbooking and NO CLUE where to begin! I've been really impressed by all of your creations, so I thought maybe someone here could give me some direction??
I was given a plain, green, square sheet of paper about 8 x 8 inches. It has to say "June," "Month 7" and my name on one side. I can decorate just the border or create spaces for pictures, whatever I want --- I just have to leave plenty of space for the mom-to-be to add photos, etc. What do I use? I was thinking of putting a yellow sun and a blue cloud at the top and put the required info on those....Can I just cut out construction paper?? I'm really at a loss...
Well - you may want to get some paper at hobby lobby, michaels or a local scrapbook store - because that paper would be 'acid free' and wouldn't deteriate (I can't spell) or fade. You can probably cut out some rectangles where she could glue pictures on top - so they'd be 'framed', and you could also just go to one of the stores above and find a pack of summertime stickers you like or something, and decorate the page that way.
I'm a total beginner, though - so others may have better ideas.
Sarah, thanks for your response! It sounds like I really need to make a trip to a craft store to get the right stuff. I like the idea of doing rectangles for photo spaces. Stickers would be very easy, too. Any other ideas that are beginner-friendly? Are there any sites with free print-outs that you all have used?
I would just go to a local craft store. Sometimes they have scrapbook kits that has something to do with babies. I know Wal-Mart does. I always buy cheap kits from there that come with frames, words, letters, and stickers. HTH! KUP and let us see your work!
