Haven't posted on here for awhile. I have a couple pages I have made in the last month but that's it. I go through phases. Right now I am trying to make some magnets and it's not really working out for me. That's why I'm here asking this. Um... well I print my pictures at home and I need some protector glaze or something to put on my images so that I can successfully make my magnets. I made some yesterday but looked at them today and the colors bled. so they don't look all that great anymore. Tried doing it again today and I put some thick glaze on the pictures (they are really small so no big loss for me) and it happened again. I am guessing I need a good quality protector for all types of paper. I am going to print my little images on a different photo paper and see if that makes any difference but I don't know if it will. Probably not. I only have thick glaze right now, silicone sealer (the kind that you buy in the hardware section or whatever), and clear nail polish and some other glaze that's more matte than glossy. I am going to try all of these first before buying anything else. And if they don't work I'm going to the hobby store and seeing if I can find something to protect my images. Ugh. Anyone ever do this? I think if I printed my photos elsewhere (at the mall) then i wouldn't have this problem but since these are little items I am making for myself i don't really want to print there in case I get in trouble for it. Example below. I don't plan on selling them but just making them for friends as gifts, etc. I want to make some for Christmas too as a gift. Any of you have any suggestions? That would be great! I would be willing to order something online and ship it to my mom so she can ship it to me (sucks that the products aren't the same here!) Or if you find it on ebay I can see about having it shipped here. Thanks! I hope I make sense!
Anyway, if I don't then I thought I'd share anyway.
..yep i'm a dork. lol
p.s. I guess these ones weren't completely dry yet, that's why they look ok. But the colors look all funky now after letting them dry overnight My friend asked me to make some for her mom and I want to do it right before making her any.
thanks for the suggestions
you know, last night i printed out some more pics on two other types of photo paper. One on just regular glossy paper and the other is premium glossy photo paper (I was using HP everyday paper the first time... ugh!) Cut a couple of the pics, one from each type of paper. Then I put my thick gloss on both of them and on ONE of them I put regular clear nail polish and I let them dry over night and woke up this morning to pictures that did NOT bleed! yay! I have a temporary solution to them at least. But I WILL be looking into the stuff you suggested! thanks I am going to be making more today! I have a friend who wants me to make her some to give to her mom as a xmas present
What a cute idea. Glad to hear the nail polish worked. GL

Those are adorable. I'm glad you found a solution!
Are you using those glass gems to make it 3d looking?
they are glass marbles I am using. They kind of magnify the image. its pretty neat! But I'm not sure if I'm liking my results. I need to find better glue now to glue the image to the actual marble I keep getting air bubbles or something. They do look a lot better now though since the nail polish seems to be working and the colors aren't bleeding. I think I am going to try using silicon next. The glue I'm using is just every day glue. Not the best and not too thick. Silicon is pretty thick at least and dries clear. Hmm. Thinking outloud. I am going to be experimenting some more. Going to try to make pendants soon now actually. I don't have the actual necklace part but can buy that later. Or make square magnets without worrying about those darn marbles i'll share what i come up with later!
