Default Monday Tip of the Day

This may seem pretty basic. (it is!) But I thought I'd post it anyways.

Patterned paper is perfect for cutting out pieces to embellish your cards and/or layouts!! For example....I have bought busy pieces of paper just for that reason, knowing I'd probably never use them for a layout, but knew they'd make great inexpensive embellishments.

    Like this paper

I have cut many butterflies from it for cards and layouts. Busy paper with trees or plants are always some of my faves.

Awesome tip! I do this as well! I tend to like a solid background, so this is what i buy patterned paper for.

I'm with Sadie...NEVER do this, but it's such a great idea!! Can you be a dear and show where you use it? I mean do you cut the exact butterfly out or do you cut around it leaving a border??? LOL, I sometimes need a visual. Thanks a bunch Charys!

    This layout used those butterflies

    closer up:

I left a little edge around them this time. It all depends on the image and what I'm using it for I guess.

This was another layout where I just cut things from paper...like the swirls and the trees were both from patterned papers.

I was wondering where you got that butterfly that has the frilly pattern. I'm going to have to try this.
