My 2nd digital layout ... need advice on shadows

I did another version where I dropped the shadows on the text and embellishments. Program crapped out on me, not sure why there's a bit of red in the text now. Will try to fix that later. But how is it with the dropped shadows?

----------------------------------------------------

Okay, did another page. A friend shared this picture today of her two kids having a sweet moment. I had to make a page!!!

Used the Shabby Princess Splendid kit for this ...

That is really cute! I love LO's with just one picture - it brings more focus. I vow to do this someday with some of my LO's - but I suffer from not being able to choose a single picture for a LO!

Sarah, I'm the same exact way with my own pictures. this was so much easier to do with someone else's. Lol

Great pic and yes, I can so relate to the 1 pic syndrome. I have a very hard time doing it.

I just ran into it again with another page but i did it, I used 1 pic. It was hard but I did it.

It's so funny our very first challenge on here I think I did a trio of (color blue, 1 pic and 1 new technique) - I think the girls wanted to take me down on that one Wink

The drop shadows definitely bring out the elements, but the only thing I notices is that they are a little bit far from the lettering which makes it look unreal or like they are floating off of the page a bit. So I would just bring the shadow under the lettering a bit closer, and maybe even darken the shadows, too, but that's it. Otherwise, great job!

there are so many options for drop shadows in Picture It (tempted to start a new thread to discuss this, but I'll see what replies I get here first)

for the letters, I did a drop down and right shadow. for the embellishments, I did just a drop right shadow. there is an option for a soft shadow all around - I wonder if I should have just used that one?

if you drop shadows, do you go a certain way or just drop them all around?

I usually put them all the same direction and then adjust the distance according to the "height" of the element. That way it looks like it's one light from one corner or spot creating the shadows. HTH!

That is so cute, I love the drop shadow one. But I will say that I used the same letters from that kit & didn't know about drop shadows yet, and when the print arrived yesterday it looked really cute anyway, like gel stickers would. But I like the drop shadows better I think
