Today my husband sent me to Mankato and told me to spend as long as I needed to relax. I could do whatever I wanted.
So I bought the kids their school clothes (11 complete outfits for $160- I was way impressed with the sales at Kohl's... $11 kids jeans for late night special and $4 toddler clothes). I bought 4 maternity tops (which was one of hubby's mandates). I bought some bigger underwear (yay for JcPenny's ambriose hi cut brief line... 8 pairs for $32.... not bad for "specialty" cotton wear). Then hubby said if I had energy to start looking for Christmas gifts. Got 2 gifts each for the kids out of the way. Then I got school supplies for the kids (what I knew they'd need since we don't have lists yet) and got 4 complete sets of school supplies, including backpacks, for our church's supply drive. (These will be sent to LA, and I'm proud that I was able to get 4 sets of everything- crayons, markers, colored pencils, rulers, protractor, box of pens, box of pencils, erasers, pencil sharpener, calculator, notebooks, construction paper, chalk and bookbag for $50). Bought some hand soap from Bath and Body Works then. (I like to use their aromatherapy line for bath soap and it was on sale!)
Then I hit up the craft stores. I went to Hobby Lobby, Michael's, Joann's and Walmart.
I splurged on the paper for myself. The paper pack was on sale for 1/2 off. The prefold were full price everywhere. The stickers were $1 at Michaels.
Then the ribbon. I didn't pay more then $1.29 and usually less then $1 for each roll. From Michaels, Joann's, Hobby Lobby and Target.
Oh, and halfway through all this, my legs almost gave out and I my uterus started to tighten. Hey, I was carrying around 4 bags of school supplies. So I stopped and had a "premium" pedicure. I was nervous about what hubby would think, but he thought it was brilliant thinking. I got an hour sitting in a massaging chair, hot towel and oil thingie on my feet and legs, a sand scrub, pedicure (including scraping the sandel caluses off), 10 minute leg rub, 10 minute foot rub, and "detailing" on my toes. It cost me $40. Hubby's response was "It's cheaper then a hospital bill or a hotel if you had to spend the night up there). Totally refreshing, and if you can believe it, only the second time in my life I've ever had a pedicure. (The other time was for my SIL's wedding and I was also pregnant, which is why I knew what was safe).
The detailing was HAND painting of flowers and adding of rhinestones. Whoa!
Don't mind that my toes are still grody. I have farm feet... full of caluses.
Thanks for looking and letting me go on about the AWESOME day I had thanks to my very, very, wonderful husband. I'm so glad to have all the school clothes done, half the supplies done and even a good start on Christmas too! This is going to be SUCH a blessing as the pregnancy progresses!
