I got a new computer yesterday. This has been a while in the making, DH kept putting off the purchase because, well, it was a lot of money. But now I have it and it's a monster. (in a good way). My hard drive is 1.5 TB. That's massive!

However, I can't install my old harddrive into the new machine, it's not compatible. My photos alone are 118GB, my digi scrapbooking is 26GB (I have a lot of stuff in that folder that's related to my card business, so it's not all just digi elements, there's a lot of photos and layouts that are large). I started copying the files last night, thinking overnight a lot would be done. Well, Windows installed an update and rebooted my machine. *sigh* Then I started over this morning (I'm copying over the network). Jordan came in, didn't know my old machine was on, and pressed the power button. There goes that copying. There's no smart copying here, it doesn't pick up where it left off. I tried using Microsoft's easy transfer tool, but had issues with it so figured I wouldn't waste any more time on it. It's going to take me DAYS to move all of the data.

Have I mentioned that Jack's birthday is Saturday? I planned on his cake smash photo session today, but I still need to frost the cake. I'm in the middle of sewing a few things. I started a layout that I have no idea when I will finish. I have way too many balls up in the air, and this data migration thing just sucks. I'm taking a cool digital editing class online, and have to be able to do my projects from today and yesterday. Insane, I tell ya!

Anyhow, just wanted to vent a little, as I'm feeling overwhelmed and frustrated. The new computer is totally worth it, I just have to get over this hump of moving everything and life will be good.

Stay tuned for the cake smash photos. I'm not fully committed to doing them today, I'm fine with putting them off until tomorrow morning, but that's the latest I can do it. (I will have 8 kids in my house tomorrow for about 5 hours, yikes!).

Wow Gwen, I can feel the stress! I would be very frustrated with the computer as you are! I hope things transfer over for you in a more timely manner so you can get to more fun things! I can't wait to see the cake smashing pictures!! I hope you're able to get to them today.

Too many balls in the air... so frustrating. They are all great things though. Can't wait until you can use yoru new computer completely. I remember that frustration when I got mine at Christmas - you just want it to be done.

Looking forward to seeing the pictures, the layout, the sewing........

Wow! You ARE busy - no wonder you won't get a shower in today (fb!)... With the files - can you do bits at a time so you know what you've done? IE ... your pictures folder, then the scrapbooking or whatever? Good luck with the cake smashing!

The computer will wait a few days. Just breathe. (and go take a shower)

    I showered!

here's the first picture ... I took 345, and am working on 24 of them to edit (just some minor adjustments - I used plexiglass so I have to clone out the line that leaves)
