I need to make two cards today, but am not sure when I will find the time. The holidays are rushing in so quickly!!!
I sewed a bag for Jordan out of old jeans. It's lined with pink fabric inside, and I put an iron on flower on each pocket (the other side looks the same)
I sewed a scarf for my brother (remember when I was trying to figure out what to make for him? Figured this works)
I sewed a pair of fleece longies for Jack, for him to wear over his diaper at naptime (I hope they fit!)
And then I'm going to phase out wrapping paper - I'm buying holiday fabric remnants at Jo-Ann's and making drawstring bags. I'll knot them really tight so the kids can't peek and just thread new ribbon when I use them again next year. I have another 5 or so to sew still, I'll have to take pictures of those too because those fabrics are really cool.
I sewed two more smaller bags with this same fabric but haven't done the ribbon yet, so no pictures
For some reason, this batch of cookies seemed to take all day. Maybe because I had to chill the batter and then we had to cut them out. Then I had to make the icing and then decorate. I didn't feel like getting fancy with the decorations, and the kids don't mind.
This hat is stupid. I tried at least four times to sew it, I ripped so many stitches. I can't seem to find a decent tutorial for making a hat for Andrew. Anyhow, Andrew hated it but Natalie likes it so it's hers.
Still to do - the rest of the holiday bags, a diaper for Jack and hopefully a better hat for Andrew. Plus the two cards. I'd love to scrapbook but I don't see it happening this week.
Cool stuff Gwen!!!
Have you thought of a mohawk or spiky hat for andrew? Or maybe a jester style? Those seem to be popular with boys this age (especially if you can a couple extras for their best buddies)...

oooh, I so love your gift bag idea! way to go green. I just love wrapping presents so much I don't know if I could ever give wrapping paper up.....as narcissitic as that is. That hat is so cute. I'm surprised Andrew didn't like it. It looks "cool" to me. The fleece longies for Jack are adorable. Where do you get that cute material anyways?? And I'm sure your brother will love the scarf. You are so talented Gwen. I really love all your posts.

Charys, if you took fabric and didn't make it into a bag, but just kept it in squares and rectangles, you could still wrap the present and reuse the fabric again and again. One of my friends did that with a receiving blanket for Katie's birthday last year (after learning that I hated wrapping paper) and it was the cutest gift, tied up with a ribbon. Looked just like with paper.
I used to LOVE wrapping gifts but I've gotta say I've gotten so into wrapping with blankets and such now that it's fun.
I struggle with the wrapping paper, because there's nothing quite like ripping the paper off a gift. That's why I don't love gift bags. But I showed the first one (with the dogs) to the kids, and they loved it. They're all about making the switch, so I'm moving forward.
Charys - I got the rocket fleece fabric in the remnant bin at Jo-Anns. It wasn't quite big enough (by 3/4 inch) for my pattern, so I'm praying they still fit the boy. Otherwise I might have to mail them to you for Cohen. Will you be doing cloth with him?
Beth - one of my hat versions had spikes but he didn't like it. Ugh. I might try again when the stress of the holidays is past us.
I LOVE that purse, and that hat!! Adorable. I'd take it too were I Natalie. Those bags are a cool idea, and even cooler is the thought of doing that with fabric paper. Neato!! I especially love the dog fabric, of course. TFS!
