Default Need advice on two things :) - update on one thing post 15

First, I'm trying to sew or knit something for everyone this Christmas (as you've probably noticed ) I'm doing the microwaveable rice heatpads for my Dad and for Andrew (Andrew saw Dad's and immediately asked for one for himself, but he doesn't want it as a gift ) Mom and MIL are getting totes, my sister is getting a hat, Jordan is either getting a tote or a hat, haven't decided, and Natalie is getting a pettiskirt if I can get it done. Jack is getting a new diaper. But I don't know what to do for my bachelor brother or for DH. DH doesn't really want me to make him anything, he's funny like that, so I don't know what I'll do for him. But do you have any simple ideas for a 34 year old single guy? I don't have yarn to do a hat for him (and I am not sure he'd wear it anyway).

And then the other thing is about spending money. I sold my elliptical yesterday for $290. DH said I can spend the money anyway I want. I contemplated putting it into the vacation account, but I don't want to. It was MY elliptical, ya know? So I'm thinking about getting the Expression. I can get it at Custom Crops with any cartridge for $209. But then there are camera accessories I really want. I'm so torn!!!!!! There are so many times I want to cut things bigger than I can with my baby bug. I could turn around and sell the baby bug on craigslist, I even have new mats I can sell with it. I don't know what I'd get for it though, since they go for so cheap these days. And I wouldn't sell any of my carts with it, I want to keep them all.

    What's a girl to do?!

I don't really have any advice. DH is the same way about not wanting me to make things for him.

    Hope you get the expression...

Is there any way you will get the expression for christmas? If so, why not wait until after Christmas to see what you might want to get.

As for what to make for a 34 year old. Honestly I am not sure. I made coasters, mine were just decorated with pattern paper. Try and think about what he does. Coasters work for my brother after being to his new place and the fact that he entertains. Does he have any hobbies? or interests that could give you a hint?

nope, no chance at all. I've never told anyone I wanted it. I have the baby bug and was content with it until recently. I asked for a lot of camera related things for Christmas this year.

Coasters might be a good idea. I was hoping to make him something with what I have on hand though, I'd have to go out and buy those. But it's definitely an idea! He doesn't really do all that much. He goes out to eat with his friends (he doesn't cook at all), watches tv, and now plays Wii (he bought one over Thanksgiving)

I'm a loom knitter, I can't really do anything beyond hats right now.

I started looking at netbooks ... ack! My laptop crashes all of the time, but I need a portable computer for my scrapbooking. I'm also looking at laptops on craigslist. I think my money is easy come easy go today.

No ideas for the DH or the bro.

But buy the Expression...sell the baby bug (I just sold my Create for $80 with mats on craigslist) you could start a little higher than you really want and then put OBO and get to where you want it Then the money you get from the bug and left over from the eliptical use for camera stuff.

I'll help you with your 34 yr. old BIL if you help me with my 32 yr. old BIL. Yours sounds like he's even in to more stuff than mine!!

I immediately thought of hat, scarf or throw(but that would take a long time!) How about etching him a cool "guy" mug? I mean if you are determined to make something for him. You could always try the Wii remote cover!!!

I love my E so I'm partial. I like cutting out bigger things, boxes, cards. And if you buy one technically you can get some of the money back for it too. That's my vote.

Gwen- you have your hands in so many pots!!! I don't know how you do all you do.

I'd feel so guilty the money would go in the vacation fund. Vacations are so fun with family and that money could very well pay for a nice sidetrip while on vacation. You already have everything you could possibly need, so why not make memories??? That's my train of thought anyway. Take it for what it's worth. LOL

How bout altered wine bottles for your bro? Or even beer bottles??? Or you could knit him coozies??? Just a thought.
