need your creative juices **updated**

I am having a photo collage type gift for my sister. I want it to have pics of her daughter at birth (1lb 9oz) and now. Now here is my problem.... I am not creative in the slightest. I need a cute poem or quote or something about going from being so small to now and I want it to have a religious aspect to it. I am going to give it to my sister for Lexie's baptism. Any and all ideas please!!!!!!

Okay, How about this?

At first glance
You were so small.
It was hard to see
A baby at all
With tubes and wires
A frightening sight
But you were ready
For the fight.

Not even two pounds
But strong from the start
You brought so much joy
As you captured our hearts
As your mama desired
You were given an angel’s name
That of your
Sweet Grandma Jane.

You are our miracle baby
A true gift of love
Our Little Lexie Jane
Sent to us from God above
Continue to grow
And learn and play
Your family and God
Will help guide the way.

Now I need to figure out how to credit it. I adapted a poem written by someone else. Do I just write adapted from "A Gift from God" by Dianne? (no last name was available)

Here is her original

That's a beautiful poem. Go for it. If it's just a gift for my sister I would just tell her I adapted it from one I found and not credit it directly on there. May be wrong but that's just me. lol Plus, I think if you just wrote "Diane" since she gave no last name, it might look you know her personally. Just my opinion

I know these are long, but maybe you could take part of them to use. Or perhaps use part of a favorite song/lullaby. Here's a few that were shared on the preemie board:

The Preemie's Prayer

Dear God, as you look down upon us,
We know that you might have to squint.
We're located here in the NICU,
It's the nursery that we rent.

There are many alarms and sirens,
Connected to our & Condos' & Flats'.
The nurses tape our booties on,
And dress us in funny hats.

We have a lot in common,
All of us were in a hurry.
For many different reasons,
Our storks came a little early.

Some of us don't know why,
We busted out from our bubbles.
We entered into this world,
Never meaning to cause any troubles.

Mommy and Daddy are worried sick,
About the odds that we must beat.
Please God, help them to realize,
That seeing us grow is a treat.

Breath by breath, we'll learn to breathe,
Ounce by ounce we'll tip the scale.
We're like the boat in the ocean,
That knows not to sink-just sail.

For we are living miracles,
Mommy and Daddy must simply believe.
That you have angels watching over us,
From the time we arrive, till the time we leave.

How Preemie Moms Are Chosen
(Adapted from Erma Bombeck)

Did you ever wonder how the mothers of premature babies are chosen? Somehow, I visualize God hovering over Earth, selecting his instruments for propagation with great care and deliberation. As he observes, he instructs his angels to take notes in a giant ledger. "Beth Armstrong, son. Patron Saint, Matthew. Marjorie Forrest, daughter. Patron Saint, Celia. Carrie Rutledge, twins. Patron Saint ... give her Gerard. He's used to profanity." Finally, he passes a name to an angel and smiles. "Give her a preemie."

The angel is curious. "Why this one, God? She's so happy."

"Exactly," smiles God. "Could I give a premature baby a mother who knows no laughter? That would be cruel."

"But does she have the patience?" asks the angel.

"I don't want her to have too much patience, or she'll drown in a sea of self-pity and despair. Once the shock and resentment wear off, she'll handle it. I watched her today. She has that sense of self and independence so rare and so necessary in a mother. You see, the child I'm going to give her has a world of its own. She has to make it live in her world, and that's not going to be easy."

"But Lord, I don't think she even believes in you."

God smiles. "No matter, I can fix that. This one is perfect. She has just the right amount of selfishness."

The angel gasps, "Selfishness?! Is that a virtue?"

God nods. "If she can't separate herself from the child occasionally, she will never survive. Yes, here is a woman whom I will bless with a child less than perfect. She doesn't know it yet, but she is to be envied. She will never take for granted a spoken word. She will never consider a step ordinary. When her child says 'mama' for the first time, she will be witness to a miracle and know it. I will permit her to see clearly the things I see – ignorance, cruelty, prejudice – and allow her to rise above them. She will never be alone. I will be at her side every minute of every day of her life because she is doing my work as surely as she is here by my side."

"And what about her Patron Saint?" asks the angel, his pen poised in the air. God smiles.

"A mirror will suffice."

Psalm 139: 13-16

13 For you created my inmost being;
you knit me together in my mother's womb. 14 I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
your works are wonderful,
I know that full well.
15 My frame was not hidden from you
when I was made in the secret place.
When I was woven together in the depths of the earth,
16 your eyes saw my unformed body.
All the days ordained for me
were written in your book
before one of them came to be.

All of those are great suggestions! Not sure how I would credit it though?
