New here...

Hello! I'm new to this board.. not to preg.org though... i LOVE scrapbooking, but i honestly haven't had much time for it since my daughter was born over a year ago... I was watching tv today (QVC) and they had a digital scrapbooking segment on (the program was called "Memory Mixer II") Anyways... then i got to thinking that maybe I should just do digital because at the rate I'm going, I'm never going to catch up! (I have about 5 pages done for my daughter's scrapbook!) I have so many pictures and themes I want to do, but I don't have the time. Anyways... I was just curious as to what programs you use and what you would recommend???

(I'm kind of hesitant to buy that program before I can check out some other ones first) Here's the link to the QVC one:

hey Linda! welcome to the board. I'm more of a paper cropper than a digital, but I do dabble in the digital. I use Microsoft's Picture It for the digital, and while it works for me, I wouldn't recommend it if you're just starting out (mainly because they stopped making it in 2003, and now make something else instead). I know a lot of people use Photoshop Elements for their pages, but I don't know anything about it.

Good luck, can't wait to see what you come up with once you start!

Hi Linda and welcome! I think I've seen you on the October board right? My son was born Oct. 9th, so I lurk there quite often. Smile I'm originally from the November board, but Kayson decided he wanted to come early. I am a paper scrapper only, so sadly I will be no help on the digi side, but there are some GREAT digi scrappers on this board that will be of great help I'm sure.

Hi there!

I switched to digital because it is so much easier to do with little ones around. Just a lot less mess.

I've tried a couple of programs, my favorite are Microsoft's programs. It depends on how "into it" you think you will get. A program like Memory Mixer is good for beginers because they are usually easy and come with a bunch of backgrounds, etc. I started with a program like that. Unfortunately, if you stay with it you start to feel limited by what you can do. I upgraded to Microsoft Digital Image Pro (same as Microsoft Picture It). The next step up would be Adobe Photoshop but I can't afford that now.

Anyway, welcome!

Welcome to the board!!
I am a digi scrapper and LOVE it because it cuts down on mess and my son can't get his hands into everything Wink

I use Corel's Paint Shop Pro. It works really well for me. It is I think easy enough for beginners but it is capible of doing a whole lot. If you go to Corel.com you can download a trial version and give it a try.

Can't wait to see some of your pages!

Thanks for all the warm welcomes! I'm really looking forward to be an active participant on this board!

As for the digital scrapbooking, since I'm new at it, I think I'd like to start out with something not too complicated, but I also want something that will allow me to make my own pages instead of just inserting photos in a template (although I"m sure I'll prob. end up doing that sometimes).. I'll check out the programs you've all suggested.. thanks!!

Welcome to the board. I'm more of the paper scrapper too but I did buy memory mixer in the hopes of teaching myself but I found myself getting fustrated with the program. But I haven't given up yet, I'm just learning how to pull in the other downloads from websites, etc.

So good luck and welcome, can't wait to see your lo's.

I totally can't make up my mind! At first I thought I wanted to do digital, but then I figured I spent so much money already in supplies, that maybe I should at least use the stuff I bought before I change gears. I've heard of the cricut machine, but haven't really seen what it could do, then this morning there was an infomercial on it... i caved and decided to do the trial period. I figured I would try it out and if i didn't like it I could always send it back and get my money returned. I was looking online and saw that I could get the machine much cheaper than what they offered! (5 payments of $50 plus shipping and handling) It was cheaper on ebay anyways.. maybe i'll decide to return it and purchase a cheaper one! I really wish i would have seen the walmart ad for black friday BEFORE black friday... grr... (I didn't realize it until it was too late!) Grr....

Cricuts are awesome!!! I CANNOT wait to get one. I hope you enjoy your trial. As far as the price of the machine, see what it comes with. There are some cartridges that are exclusive to QVC etc. so if you have 2 cartridges or some other kind of bonus, it would even itself out in the long wrong. Cartridges are usually about $60 a piece but you can usually find them on sale or at least cheaper then sticker.

BTW, welcome!:)
