Nursery curtains (OT) - Updated 3/16

Thought you all might like to see the fruits of my sewing labor.

I love the material, but when we hung up the curtains, I was kind of disapointed. After thinking about it for a while and going back in the room later, I'm pretty sure the problem isn't the curtains, but the white walls in contrast to the beige color of the curtains. So, definately made up my mind to paint the room now (probably pink)

Okay, so I took the advice and edited the photos to see what the wall colors might look like. The colors are not exactly what they would be, especially the pink, but it does give an idea. What do you think?

I agree that pink would make a big difference. Those are darling Stephanie. TFS

Cute material! I would agree that you should paint, but if it were me, I'd paint that one wall dark chocolate brown and the rest of the walls the pale pink. The brown will make the pink elephants and the stars totally pop. And with one wall, it won't make the room look smaller as the light will reflect off the pink walls, kwim?

Love the curtins! If you have photoshop you could change the color of your walls in the photo first to see what it looks like.

Adorable material and they are very nicely done. I agree with Tracey about the chocolate wall. I was going to suggest it and thought no, then the room will look small, but the accent wall would be great IMO. Pink would look nice too but may still wash out the lighter fabric whereas chocolate will make it pop.

I'm sure it will be amazing either way. Can't wait to see the finished product!

Definately think the brown would help, I've been thinking about it. The room is pretty small though and really not sure which wall would work, so I was discussing with my friend this morning that we might do a chair rail affect with brown on bottom and pink on top. I must admit that I stink at this stuff though. I'm not a decorator at all, just don't have the eye for it. My friend suggesting pink walls with brown circles...?

Thanks for all your sweet comments. I'm impatiently waiting for me new cricut cartridge so that I can try making some things (of course I have no idea what I'm doing with that either).

I think with the patterns in the curtain, adding circles would make the room too busy. I'm one who likes to keep it simple. In our house, we put the accent walls on the sides the windows are and/or where the sun does not reflect to ensure maximizing the light. Hold up some paper in the pink you're thinking next to the curtains, but I think the pink against the curtains would appear too pale and wouldn't do the curtains the justice they deserve. If your room is smaller I would put the chocolate on the wall with the window and put the rest of it in pink or preferably some type of off white, whatever matches the curtains. One dark wall, especially on the side the window is located, really won't make the room appear smaller. That way if you make pink and/or brown elephants, they'd stand out more on the off white (or did I see accents of light green on the curtains?) walls. I can't wait to see what you come up with!

love the fabric, it's adorable!

we did a chair rail in Andrew's room when he was a toddler. it's still the same colors, he's dying for it to be repainted. Wink but I love the idea of the chair rail with the pink and brown - I'm a huge fan of that color combination.

Definitely not the one in the middle. With the third pic, can you make the pink much paler? I hate to say it, but the pink reminds me of pepto bismol and I'm sure that's not the effect you're looking for.

Lol

I had a hard time getting the color I wanted on my computer. It kept coming out as really mauve. I can try again though, I was kind of impatient with it.

Okay, hopefully this is a little better:

It looks a bit better, but I think I'd still stick with the one solid wall and do pink elephant deco against the brown to make them pop. But either way, I think it'd look good!
