I had fun this weekend making some things for the boys room. (wow, that feels wierd saying boys) It's just so tiny and full of scrapbooking stuff that I felt depressed about the space issues. Oh well. Cohen is going to sleep in a pack n play next to our bed for the first few months....so no crib in his room as of yet.
This was inspired by a post Ashley (ashnbill) posted a loooooooong time ago. She made a butterfly frame. I always loved that and thanks to insomnia, this idea popped into my head last night. It's a boyish twist on it. LOL
You can't really tell from the pic, but I used pop dots behind each airplane to give it a 3-D look.
This was a Mainstays frame from Walmart for $5 and all the airplanes were made from scraps, so a very inexpensive project.
And then I thought of this in bed....yes, not sleeping has its benefits. haha
First, I started with a plain Walmart lamp shade/lamp. Painted it light blue
(ignore the mess around me....I was in full-time project mode this morning...lol)
Then I let it dry completely. After it was dry I cut clouds from Graphically Speaking and airplanes from New Arrivals out of a piece of vinyl:
Stuck the negative spaces to the lampshade where I wanted them:
Used acrylic paints to paint inside designs:
Then let it dry:
Voila! Again, about a $12 project total and I'm pleased with the results. It wasn't hard at all!
This is one of the cramped corners of their room...
and another random photo of the nursery
My sis and BIL got brought us that adorable vinyl saying from a friend of hers' that sells it. I thought how fun it'd be to try that with our Cricuts!
THEN, I decided to make 6 pairs of baby shoes. Not all of these are for Cohen....I have so many friends/relatives that I need baby gifts for.
I turned a few over so you could see the bottoms.
Really felt productive today! And I'm starting on my birth announcements after supper. After I get all the pieces cut DH promised to help assemble them, so all we will have to do when Cohen arrives is add a pic and mail.
Maybe I'm nesting?? LOL!
