October Technique Challenge

For this Challenge I thought it would be fun to go back to the basics. Sometimes the most stunning pages are those containing few embellishments/papers, etc. Looking back at Kayson's scrapbook this year my favorite pages were the ones I didn't overdo.

So...here's your challenge, create a "Simple" Scrapbooking Page.

1. Create a layout using a maximum of only 2 types of embellishments (i.e. flowers, ribbon, buttons, etc.) and a max of 1 patterned paper. Solid cardstock/background paper doesn't count as your patterned paper.

2. Your new layout must be submitted by October 31st.

3. Disable your siggy when posting please. Smile

I get so carried away with embellishments and papers at times, that I look forward to sticking to Simple Scrapbooking on this challenge!

This should be really interesting.

When you say types, does that mean if you pick flower and button you can use more than one of each of them?

You can use as many as you want, but they've got to be the same type of flower. Like if you pick two different types of flowers, then that counts as both. You can use more than 2 flowers though. Or more than two of the same type of button, etc. I don't even know if I'm making any sense??

Thanks Sadie! Of course you can use it. It will be perfect for a layout you can do in a few months Wink

Ok, here's mine ... remarkably, I tried to add another type of element (because I only had the one - word strips), and didn't like anything, so I left it alone.

Oh, and I have to tell you that finding 'solid' papers in digital scrapbooking is really really hard! lol I used solid ones that are grunged up, mainly. I really love how this turned out though, I'm so glad we had this challenge!

I make my own solids by just making a square the size of the page and filling it with the color I want. Don't know if that helps you, but I do it often.

Is this page okay? I misunderstood and thought I could only have the background paper then the one paper on top. I didn't even use paper do do any journaling because I thought I wasn't supposed to.

okay, here's my simple page. Only used two pieces of 12x12 paper - I cut behind the big picture to get the mat for the smaller and the paper to cut the letters. Wink No embellishments at all, just the paper. This is probably my favorite baby picture of Natalie (the big one).

That page came out great. Natalie was so cute and looks so cuddly.

I don't know if mine is ok either, it's probably the simplest one I've done in a long time though!

Here's my attempt. I hope this is right. Journaling is hard to read. It says "At six months you hit two very imporant milestones: sitting on your own and eating solid foods. We were so excited to see you reach each one."

Woohoo, I'm finally done!!! I spent way too much time on this. For some reason it just wasn't coming together easily.

Journaling:
On Frame - You may be smaller than Tyler, but you're still the BIG sister! I know you will always be there for him!
On Tabs - You finished your bottle early, but Tyler was still eating. When he started to cry, you went over to try & comfort him. So much love between the two of you. Sept. 12, 2008

Those are great LOs. I love the fish buttons on "cool in the pool" and how the title was done on "little Moments."
