paper packs

when you buy these, do you take them apart and 'file' away the papers? I just got a 12x12 paper filer and I find myself leaning towards doing that instead of having to look through each paper pack.

If you do file away...can i see your system? Smile

I have thought about doing that, but I haven't been able to come up with a good way to do it in my head. I'm afraid that if I take them apart, I won't come up with as good of a way to keep them organized as they already are in the packs, if that makes any sense. You know how sometimes the packs will have papers that are similar near each other? I'm afraid that if I take them apart and organize by color or something, I will forget that there are papers that coordinate nicely. I'm just a scaredy-cat!

For me it depends on the pack. If all the papers in the pack coordinate, then I keep it all together. I have seen other packs that have a ton of season papers, in that case I would seperate them.

I normally keep them together but I tend to buy single sheets anymore becuase I noticed that when I buy the paper packs, I do not use half of the paper.

wal-mart in the arts and craft area. it's a hand held 12x12 13 slot filing thing. it was $10.

Yeah, i had two packs that could easily be seperated but i have one that has very patterned paper with all diferent kinds of colors on it! Maybe i'll leave that one alone...

I usually keep mine together until it falls apart. I am really thinking about doing what you are doing- filing them by color. I plan on keeping it like the rainbow though, so the greens/blues are close together and so on. I did that with my last paper pack that fell apart, and I am happy with how it's working. I need to check my Wal-Mart!

this is what i did Sadie. I bought a 12x12 cardstock pack and it was allo colors of the rainbow and more, so it's in the order that was in.

I think i am going to get another file folder and have one for solid colors and one for patterned paper.

I have my blues, reds, yellows, and greens, whites and blacks are together, then I have plaid, baby, floral, Patterned... You get the idea. I have a seperate file folder for 8 x 11 paper.

with Christmas money/gift card, I got a rolling tower of drawers and 3 of them are big enough to fit at least one big paper pack, so I changed my system and have put them in there now. I used to have a portable 12x12 file thing (it had a handle, and closed with a snap), for that I separated the paper pack by main color (it was patterned) and filed it away like that. I will try to take a pic sometime of what I have now. The newest paper pack I bought was a Christmas one, and I have kept it together so far, and will probably keep it together until it falls apart.

I leave mine together. It's easier for me to remember what's in them. (ie. Pet Stack, Summer stack, colored cardstock)

I bought this pink crate thing at Walmart and I bought hanging folders to put in it. I organize my papers by color. If it is a pattern that is all one color it goes with the folder of that color. But if it is a pattern that has multiple colors it goes in a folder with all the other multicolored patterns. I would take a picture of it to show you but I broke my camera! I did it that way so it is very mobile for my away from home crop events. The only bad thing is if it is raining I will have to put a big plastic bag or something over it to protect it from getting wet!

I leave the paper packs together. everything else is filed using the Cropper Hopper storage bin things (by colors for solids and pattern themes for patterns)

I normally rip them apart and file by color. This is something that I need to work on since my scrap room is a MESS! I need to get somemore 12x12 file folders so that I can sort some more of my papers out.
