photo of hubby and a question

My hubby Wayne is a true Brit. He moved to Canada with me in November 2006 but he still LOOOOOOVES the rain. It always makes him feel like he's home and he stands out in it like this every time...the bigger the down pour the better! We had the kids out on the porch chalk drawing and it started pouring....

I snapped this pic of him and really wanna scrap one like this despite all the blown parts.....problem is, I can never get the rain to show up!!! lol. (apart from the wet ground that is)...It was POURING here and I tried a bunch of different ways and not one would show up as rain....it's only a point and shoot but still! ....should I keep trying or just use this one and journal something like I've done here? Does ANYONE have any with rain showing up you want to show? And, how do you do it? lol

Have you ever point and clicked at night? I'm thinking the flash reflecting off the rain would make it show up better.... at least there is a huge difference in my pictures when I take snow pictures during the day vs at night.

ahh, good idea. It's stopped raining but the next night it rains I will definitely try that. It's not like I will have to coax him out there. lol. Thanks!:D

Definately play with it at night, that sounds like a good idea. What a great thing to scrap!

I agree at night...it will reflect the flash. Only problem you might run into is if it is raining really hard it may blur out dh and only catch the rain....but then there's always photoshop if that happens Wink

Aw, that's so cute! Next time it rains i will know where to send it! Wink

I would guess that the rain is falling far too quickly to capture it with a P&S. It is likely that the shutter speed is rather slow, so at best you might be able to capture teeny, tiny, line like blurs as it falls. The idea of trying when it's dark is a good one because the flash freezes everything in a nanosecond, so the drops should look better. They may be a little too small though.

Perhaps if that doesn't work you can get him to stand in a big puddle. The camera should then be able to pick up the rain falling into the puddle and splashing.

Not sure just wanted to add that I love the photo. Can you use tiny bits of vellum and add raindrops?

flash freezes motion. did you use the flash? if not, try it with the flash.

it's raining here right now. maybe I'll run out and try it for you. will let you know. Wink

flash didn't work in the day light with the rain. Sad

if there's a setting on your camera that lets you slow the shutter speed, try that (like using the night mode on the camera)

I love the idea of a layout with that photo. you could cut raindrops (cartoon-like bigger ones) and drop them all over the page. Wink

What a great pic! I hope something works for you so that you are able to capture the rain too!

I don't know of anything else to try to capture the rain drops, but this is going to be such a fun page! Can't wait to see the end-product. Smile
