    Liz,

Do you mind if I ask what it is you find disorienting? I am currently using PS 7.0, but my copy is from work. I am considering doing some "for hire" work (making posters), but that would be a conflict of interest for me to use my university licensed software to produce them (even if on my home computer).

SO ... I need to buy my own copy of PS. However the price tag for CS3 (which I would really like) or even CS2 is pretty far out of my budget right now (especially since what I *really* need to spend my dough on is a new computer). So I was thinking about downloading the trial version of PSE to see if I could get my work done with that for a while.

I'd be really interested to hear your experience from going to CS3 to PSE. Might help me decide if I need to push off this idea for a while or whether I can make it work.

    Thanks a TON,
    GiGi

Hehe... I had PSE before getting CS3 so I am far more familiar with PSE becuase I have used it ALOT! I use it for photo editing more then anything else though. I have only used it a few times for scrapping.

I guess i'm just used to CS3 and it's much easier for me to do actual LOs in that program. PSE seems like more of a photo editing program instead of being able to put together a layout. nothing inparticular was confusing me, i just didn't find it as easy to put together a layout. I do like it for editing pictures though. I think I have decided to stay with CS3 for making layouts.

I have Elements and I love it. Especially for the price! I have used CS3 at work and really, Elements can do pretty much everything that CS3 can do. The two big exceptions to this (that I have found) is that Elements does not do layer masks or curves. But happily there are plug-ins out on the internet that can make the program do those things!

If you have questions about specific things in Elements, feel free to post or pm me!

thanks Kristen! I will probably bug you until you are insane after I get it installed (I'm waiting for a spare PC to come open so I can have a clean environment in which to play).

I use PSE and am very happy with it. I use it for all my photo editing and my digi pages.

I've been wondering all of this too. I was afraid to buy PSE because I thought I'd want to upgrade to CS3 right away and be frustrated. I really like Microsoft's program, but since they have discontinued it and all the tutorials are for photoshop...
