prayers for housing....OT

My husband works for the state of CA and because of budget issues, most state workers have to take two furlough days a month...this is equal to a 10% paycut! We contacted our landlord to see if we can renegotiate and rent price, since we will be taking the cut starting March 1. He said that if we need to move and break our lease that is fine, the house will be going into foreclosure in October. WHAT?? When was he planning on telling us that the house we are renting is going into foreclosure!

ugh! dh is going to look into seeing if we can buy the house...which i don't see that as possible as we don't have any money for a down payment and our credit score is horrible!

Please pray that either we are able to buy the house, or easily find other housing when the time comes.

wow so sorry that you got that unfortunate news. I'll keep you in my thoughts and prayers that you either can buy the house or find something else that works for you all.

Well we just got word from the landlord that we MIGHT be able to stay until the end of April. Our lease is over in October...are there laws that can protect us? dh said something like if the house is in foreclosure that we no longer pay rent to the landlord and we have 6months to move...is this true?

ETA: if we bought the house, the payment would just $600! guess that isn't an option for us!

Liz- I have no idea, but I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers. I am so sorry you guys are suffering through this. Sometimes you can get some deals on a foreclosed house, so maybe that'll work out for you guys. KUP! :bigarmhug:

I was going to say, $600/mo for CA sounds pretty cheap! some of my relatives are paying double that in rent for an appartment!

Sorry Liz! :bigarmhug: That's got to be scary. Sad I'll say a prayer that everything works out and you find a place to live for less $$.

no $600 MORE a month. we pay $1400 now, it would be $2000 if we bought it.

We aren't buying it and we need to be out b the end of April. we are getting the next two months rent free...in writing!

so, now to find a place to live...in a rental economy that sucks!

My BIL pays Somewhere around $600 for his apartment and they allow cats, but not dogs. He's off of Funston I beleive. I can't remember the exact street but I'll ask him if he knows of anything.

Sorry I'm late to this, I will also keep you guys in my thoughts and prayers. You know what has worked for us is to call realtors and ask them if anyone who's trying to sell a house is interested in renting. That's how we got the one we're in now. It had been on the market for a long time and they needed that extra money...course it's still on the market which kinda sucks, but you can negotiate that into your lease right? GL and KUP okay??
