    Default prayers please (xp) updated

    Our town is having some major flooding at the moment. Our basement, despite a sump pump, has about 12 inches of water and my husband's stuff is floating around the basement. Much of it will be a total loss. We have some of our electric turned off (to the basement) and no gas (hot water tank is under water). Our sewer service is questionable right now as well.

    Our other concern is that our house is seeing some structural effects -- our walls are cracking. Not severely yet, but we're still in the middle of the storm.

    We have several houses on our street being evacuated. And the guy across the street was electrocuted (luckily he's okay) when he tried to plug in his sump pump.

    We have an emergency plan and have several places we could go if it gets worse.

    I know many of you have gone through things like this before, so please send prayers our way! Thanks!

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    the waters rose ... but the rain finally ended around 1 am. Our sump pump got stuck at one point and DH went down to get it restarted. The water was up over his knees!
    They ended up evacuating the block over from us.
    We have good news and bad news. Our basement drained back down. We just got our gas turned back on without any troubles and we have our electric back. Bad news is that any damage won't be covered by insurance because it was flood damage. I think my dryer may be toast since it has water inside the drum.
    We have A LOT of cleanup to do over the next few days. But everyone is safe and we're very thankful for that!
    Thanks for the prayers!
    Beth, I'm so glad you are okay. Having lived in an area with 2 major floods in 2 years, I can relate a little. I'm so sorry about your dryer, how is the house itself? Hopefully you will get all the help you need to fix everything. I'm sure FEMA will be offering assistance to some.
    wow, that really sucks about insurance. what good is insurance if it can't protect you from a natural disaster? grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
    but I'm glad that everyone is safe and sound.
