QOTD Wednesday

Do you own CDs anymore (in this day and age of iTunes)? If so, do you actually listen to them? If you got rid of them, what did you do with them?

This is a question that was inspired by Jack pulling 10s of CDs out of our CD bookcase.

We have CDs, a couple hundred of them (I still have cassette tapes and record albums too). The CDs are mostly housed in a bookcase thing I bought years ago. I listen to a very small handful of them. I've burned some to MP3s and due to copyright, feel the need to hold on to those particular CDs so I have proof of ownership. I'd love to get rid of at least 100 of my CDs, but hate the idea of just giving them away after the money invested in them. But I don't see much market for CDs these days.

Um, my DH is obsessed with having the physical copy of CDs. So we download a little, and have transferred most to our computer or DH's MP3 player ... but we have hundreds of cds floating around. Most are out of the cases and into cd binders. We then boxed up the cases and put them in our attic. We keep a full (250ish) cd binder in the car and listen to those in the car.

We have some, but not a lot. We don't buy cds anymore, but I have recently bought some kids song ones for Miles. And we don't own ipods, I don't even understand them. We mainly listen to the radio.

i use CD's in the car. (well when i have a car that works and has a radio lol) and i also have an older huge stereo that holds 5 disks. i wont buy a cd these days unless i know i am absolutely in love with most of the songs on it, because if its just a couple then i can just d/l them.

when i got rid of some of the CD's i no longer listened to some years back (ok like 8 years lol) i hung them on the wall in my room as a wall art/mirror type deco thing. or you could always find a way to do something crafty with them!!

I still have lots of CDs. They are in CD binders in the car, but I have the cases on some shelves and in a cd tower. But I am planning to go through them before our garage sale and get rid of a lot that I don't listen to.

I have an ipod shuffle but only use it when I mow the lawn. I am hoping to utilize it more when I start working out again.

As for my cds, I only have a handful because my cd cases were stolen from our car a couple of years ago. I am pretty sure the stupid thief had a hard time selling them though because I don't imagine there is much of a market for Madonna, Rent- The Broadway Recordings, and New Kids on the Block greatest hits. LOL Anyway, I have maybe 20 or so that I listen to occasionally. I downloaded a lot of my fave songs from my cd and made mix cds. Those are my fave to pop in while cleaning the house.

As far as the car, I don't really listen to the radio or cds. I am too busy trying to listen to my GPS.

All of dh's hundreds of cds are downloaded to his IPod. It is a 60 gig, so he still has plenty of room to spare. The actual cds are in books in the attic...not sure where his cases are.

All of my cds are in their cases in the attic. Some of them are downloaded to my IPod, but mine is only 8 gigs and doesn't hold as much. I was gonna remember to switch around my songs more frequently but I never do....never have time...imagine that. Maybe I should go ahead and upload them all to my computer so I could switch out the cds I want more easily...

One of these days....

We have hundreds, haven't touched them since we moved into our house (3+ years ago). I have an iPhone and all my music is on there. I'm going to try and sell our CD's on Kijiji (eBay, etc) and if we can't sell them donate them. I hate to 'waste' that money too, but then I thought of it like this: the money is wasted whether they sit in my house collecting dust for the next 10 years or if I give them away now. I will rip the ones I really love that we don't already have in iTunes, but will likely get rid of 99% of them.

We only have cd's from 10 years ago pretty much. They just stay in a shoe box somewhere or something. I have been anti-ipod for years, just buying other brand mp3 players, but I gave him and bought an iPod touch in February and I love it. It is my favorite inanimate object, ever. Seriously, it does not ever ever ever leave my side. I'd give up my cricut for it. For real, back to cutting out letters with scissors and Xacto before I'd give up the ipod touch. hahahaha. (yea, some serious kind of blasphemy on the scrapbook board :p)

Cracking up ... reading and replying in my iTouch. Not sure how I lived without it!

We still have most of our cd's (we've weeded out a few that we just don't listen to anymore).
We do listen to them all the time though. I have an undercounter cd/radio in the kitchen that is on a good portion of the day. Plus we always have one going in the car. Although lately it has just been all the kids cd:)
I did just buy a cheaper MP3 for when I am on the treadmill. That is pretty much the only time it gets used though. I only have a few of my cd's on it, but would like to add a few more soon.
