Default question about using ultrasound pics in LO's

I am going to be working on my pregnancy LO's soon and I want to include my ultrasound pictures but I thought someone said that I had to scan the ultrasound pics onto photopaper first. Is this true? Why? I really don't want to have to run to the store to scan these and then pay for them if I can just use the actual pic I have. Thanks!

I scanned mine and printed out the picture. It helped me enlarge it a little for the LO I had planned. Here is a pic for ya:

You'll want to do it because ultra sound paper doesn't last for more than a few years. It's worth the money. Your pictures will fade even in a scrapbook.

I am going to cry now.
My u/s pictures as well as the wrist bands and the pregnancy announcement I sent out, the birth announcement I sent out and various other important things concerning my sons birth are gone. My DH who did all the packing with his friends when we moved has no clue where they could be. I had them in a paper tote that is about 2 feet by 1.5 feet and no one remembers seeing it. I had the papers I was going to use, the embellishments, everything down to my exacto knife that I planned on using.

Anyway, have them printed on photo paper so they will last years longer than the u/s paper.

That is horrible, I am so sorry! I would be devastated if I lost everything like that.

As far as u/s pics go, mine were printed on actual photo paper, they aren't on that flimsy paper that most u/s pics are printed on. I am so thankful to have such nice u/s pics that I don't have to worry about fading. I did scan them into my computer just in case though, part of me still worries about it.

Like Amy my u/s photos were all printed on kodak paper, I didn't ahere any of my u/s pictures I hid them under paper layers so you can pull them out and look at them. If your pictures are printed on the paper like u/s pictures I would go make plenty of copies now before they do fade.

I'd print them on photo paper. You want it to last forever.

Leah- I am so sorry. I remember you saying something about that while back, and I was hoping you found it.
