Question for the stampers...

For those of you who use stamps - are there special markers to do them with?? I bought a couple if stamps from Jo-Ann Fabrics the other day and was wondering what sort of ink to use - or if any marker will do (acid free). Thanks!

I use stamp pads or just my regular scrapbooking markers. (I have several brands two of which are American Crafts and Zig). I also just bought some colored pencils to use to color in the image. HTH!

I always wonder what others use to color in their stamps. I've always just used colored pencils.

When actually inking right on the stamp, I'll use washable markers. Most of the time I just ink my stamps with stamp pads though, and color the image in with colored pencils.

I would caution you in using any old type of marker, they all won't work. I had a friend who did that with a marker and it messed up her stamp. I imagine water based markers would be fine. I use the Stampin' Up markers and they are made to write with and also stamp with. You can color a stamp different colors, huff on it (shot of hot air from your mouth that makes the ink "wet" again), and then stamp it. Maybe look on the stamping aisle at your local hobby store and see what they have.

Thanks! That's what i thought.. even though i bought a couple of dollar stamps at JoAnn's, i don't want to ruin them (or my pages!)... I just wasn't sure if it was ok to use permanent marker because i thought that it would mess up the stamp....

THANKS for the tips, Andie! I tend to only use one color on my stamps (from ink pads) and never really figured out how so many use multiple colors. I'm gonna have to try it out now. Smile
