questions for you digi scrappers (or anyone who can answer)

This may sound really, really dumb. I am working on Paint Shop Pro. I opened a backgroud, but now I can't figure out how to add embellishments, pics, or anything. What's the secret that I am over looking? I feel sooooo dumb.

I use paint.net, but I believe it is essentially the same program..

So what you need to do is open another layer...usually it will open a tool bar kinda window so you can select which one you wanna work with, and you can move the, around.

HTH!

It's been a long time since I have played around in psp but I think the "easiest" thing to do would open up your pic, embellishment, etc then copy it. Go to your background and then paste it as a new layer. Like I said it's been a long time, and I use photoshop or paint.net now, but they are all pretty similar.

oh and what version of psp are you using?

I use GIMP, whis is similar to photoshop 7+. I have the folder open where the embelishment is on my computer and then click and drag it onto the background, and i'm able to edit it that way

I am really struggling here. I feel so dumb. I have played with it before, but I just can't figure it out even with the screen shots. I did everything up until pasting the photo. When I paste it (as a new layer) I can't use the pick tool to resize it or anything. Why isn't my pick tool working? What am I doing wrong? It's frustrating me big time. I would show you a screen shot if I knew how. Any ideas??

I know ZILCH about digi scrapbooking, but I know you can get a screen shot by hitting your "print screen" button. It basically saves the screen shot to your clipboard. Then you can hit paste in Word (or whatever) and it will show you the screen. Save as a picture file and upload to photobucket like you normally would with pictures. HTH

Try going to digishoptalk.com and asking for help there - I don't know PSP, so I'm not much help, but there are bound to be a bunch of people over there using it (it's probably the largest digi-scrap community out there).

It sounds to me like you are doing everything right. You open your background and then your element. Right click on the element - copy - right click on the background - paste as a new layer. Click on the arrow (pick tool) and you should be able to move and resize.

I tried messing around with mine to see if I could get the pick tool to not work to see if I could suggest something, but I couldn't find anything.

Darn, it's so hard to tell without being able to see your screen.

The thing is, my pick tool is there, but I can't click on it. Like, it's not working or something. It worked once, but I can't remember how I got it to work. I will try to get screen shots later, but I can't right now. I am at work.

Not sure if you can see, but the object selection tool can not be selected. UGH!! Sorry it's so small, but the tool is at the bottom.

I have been looking all over google trying to find out about the toolbar on psp 9, because it seems to be different from 11 but I haven't had any luck. But, I *think* you may be trying to use the wrong tool for your moving and resizing. I the pick tool you want to use is farther up on the toolbar. Maybe the second one down? Have you clicked on the pull down on that second tool and see if there is a pick tool there? I may be way off but that is where it is on my version and it may be on yours too. I will keep looking and see if I can find anything else.

The tool it looks like you've selected (the cross with the 4 arrows?) to me looks like just a move tool, not a transform tool. In photoshop it's Ctrl-T to Transform, not sure what it would be in PSP. Sorry I'm no help whatsoever. Sad
