quick question about photos (daycare related)

I am going broke trying to give parents copies of the super cute photos we capture at daycare. lol....
Wayne and I were thinking of finding a way to post all our daycare photos online for a group that only the daycare families could join. Is there such a thing for free out there? A lot of the parents go on and on about how we get the cute natural smiles and adorable moments for display pics and just general pics I take for their daycare scrapbook...I used to just print them some but we have 7 kids now and this isn't feasible financially or time-wise. For a while, we put them up on a board but then they would just ask to take them for a day or two to copy them at Walmart or something, and then we would hear that they gave them out in Christmas cards and such (which obviously isn't cool when other people's kids are on them! lol).....We would like to still share them though. lol Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks in advance ! I will be back after the kids go home to look at new posts Biggrin

I use shutterfly, and I believe you can send the link to certain people only. You can either share one album at a time or set up a share site (that is what I have), which is a website where you can share certain pics/albums. if they make a shutterfly account, they can then either save the picture file to their computer or order prints from shutterfly. so if they wanted to order from somewhere else, they could just download the files of the pics they wanted and then get them printed wherever.

I was gonna say the same thing, but I use snapfish;) I think you can kinda do the same thing with photobucket too.

You could do a private blog where the parents have to be members to have access.

a private blog could be really cool, then you could write a short entry about the funny little things they did that day etc too, it'd be a way to share photos and update the parents all in one and it'd only take a few minutes a day.

I have used group rooms through snapfish. You can invite whoever you want to see the photos and set it up so that they have to have a password to enter. Not sure how that would work out though, because I think they would be able to order prints through there and again, some of the other kids could be in there. Hmmm...

I second Snapfish. I have a private album set up just for family members.

or a private blog would be awesome! You could write little anecdotes to explain your day and I bet the parents would LOVE that. Blogspot.com is free.

Yeah, I would vote a private blog as well so you can update with funny stories. Parents would be tickled pink to read what happens during the day and great memory keeper for the day care!

Picasa (through google) can be set up for private, and you can make notes under each picture. Just another option.

but I think it would be best to use one of the sites that will let them order copies if they want (which means you have to upload the high resolution versions of the pictures).

I think it's a great idea to have something like that to share with them. I wish I had had something like that for my kids when they were in daycare.

I use Snapfish with my class and I have a class password that parents got at the beginning of the year. It works great!

I too vote for a blog, I would LOVE that as a parent. To be able to go on and read and to have as a forever record. But that would mean more work for you...so a personal account may be better. Sounds like you got great advice for that. GL

Thanks ladies Smile The more I was thinking about it I said "they all go to each other's birthday parties and take pics of everyone there so why are they so bothered about someone taking a pic home with another kid with their kid anyway?" lol. Oh well. Thanks for all these great ideas. I will have a look at them today...a blog does sound great but I'm not so keen on more work after the 7 kids go home, especially since I'm working out so much now too. ugh. Though, I do love to talk! lol. We shall see!
