quick question about vinyl for wall decorations

I'm ordering a few colors from oh my crafts (thanks for the tip Ashley!) to try this out. Do I need transfer tape? And how much? A friend explained this to me once but I can't remember what she did with it (the tape) for the life of me! If I do need to order some, do I need equal amounts of transfer tape and vinyl? Or do you just use a little of it even if you're making big cuts? Hope I am making sense! Smile

Depends on what you're doing. I don't use transfer tape for any cuts of shapes, etc. I didn't use it AT ALL when I did Miles' car room. If I were doing words that I wanted lined up, I would put it on the transfer tape first so it would be nice and even, and then transfer to the wall. So, really depends on what you're doing! Biggrin

Thanks, Ashley! After I posted this I noticed that it was out of stock anyway. Boo! LOL. So I went ahead and ordered all the vinyl I wanted, and I googled some more and found that some people use clear contact paper instead? Does that make sense to you? I am planning on doing some words in DD's room and I basically suck at lining things up Biggrin so I will probably plan on getting some contact paper. Hopefully that will work the same way! Otherwise maybe I can buy some from the friend I mentioned earlier...maybe she has extra!

I'm not sure how contact paper would work! It seems like it might be a little too sticky?! Idunno, I guess it's worth a try! I'm looking forward to seeing pictures of what you're doing!

Hmmm...good to know! I am a cheapskate and definitely wouldn't want to ruin any of the vinyl and have to order more! LOL. I think wherever I read that said that they stick their hands on it a few times to take some of the sticky off. But like I said, I REALLY don't want to mess it up! I will do another google search to see if that was just one crazy person using it (heehee) or if it seems to be a standard thing. Thanks for the heads up!
