How did you get into it? I am sure we have talked about this before but I am interested again. lol.
I met a girl on a message board that I had a few years ago ( 2004 I think) and she scrapped. She used to post pics of her pages and I fell in love with the idea! I remember saying that I wanted to try it but that I didn't want to spend a lot of money. I went into a scrappy store and left empty handed and said " I won't ever spend that much money on PAPER". I did my first few pages with white card stock and my printer. I ended up buying paper packs for cheap and on clearance. I love it more every time I scrap. I have spent more money than I would ever want to imagine on scrapping now though. lol.
Ha!!! Have to laugh at printer and white card stock after seenig your work now Angie. I'd LOVE it if you'd share some of your first pages, in fact, we all should.
I saw an album from a CM lady at a convention I was at for something other than scrapping one time and LOVED it. I always wanted to do it, but the thought was so daunting. Then one lady I met was really into it and kept inviting me to come to crops. I never went, but did end up buying an album from Walmart and an inexpensive paper pack that came with matching embellishments. That's how it all started. I took a break from it for years then came back to it when I joined this board.

my 2 BFFs in high school (they were sisters) went to a scrapbooking birthday party one time, and they brought home their pages they made and i thought it was so cool. when i got married i did my 1st scrapbook for me and DH's lives together from high school until we got married. i went bought an album, a pack of paper that had little paper embellies in it, and some stickers and went to town. then i stopped until i had Ryan and found this board and got started again. . im glad i found this board, you ladies are so awesome!
Here are three of my first ones. Mostly with plain office store cardstock and the printer. I did get some funky scissors though.
This is my first layout ever. It is of a boy I babysat at the time. I searched for wallpaper samples ( LOL) and printed one for the patterned paper part.
This is the second, I did the same Wallpaper sample pattern paper. lol lol
And the third, I broke down and spent money on some ink pads and used that on the white paper for the pattern paper.
I have about a dozen more like this. My husband bought me pretty much everything Walmart had in the scrap section that year for Christmas. I LOVED scrapping though, even this way.
How neat Angie! I really think those are soooo great.

I think they're great for first pages!! I look at mine now and they're nothng like my more recent efforts! The first ever couple i did were pages about Zane & Ada and then Lyric:
Grr! For some reason it won't do my images, so here's a link to the blog post i made with them on: Can't Sleep
I've always had a fetish for nice stationery and a love for all things pretty. When i was pregnant with Ada i decided to collect scrapbookign supplies to work on pages in memory of Zane while i was on maternity leave, waiting for baby to arrive. Then we lost Ada too, so i started collecting girl stuff for a similar reason. When it came to the end of my pregnancy with Lyric i couldn't face doing the pages, so i left it and picked up when Lyric was a couple of months old. Now i can scrap joyous memories as well as wanting to preserve those that weren't so happy. So i guess i've been scrapping and cardmaking for about 1 year and 3 months or something.

Haha, here's my funky first LO's I did back in 2003. You made me pull out the book and actually look at it again! Talk about plain - absolutely NO journaling! But it does kinda tell our story without words... I made this for DH for xmas of our first year together:
Our first meeting
The first pics we shared of what we looked like:
What we looked like when we were chatting, me at 10:00 p.m. and about to go to bed and he at 5:00 a.m. about to go to work!
Geez, I even wanted to put my jewelry materials in even back then, haha!
Just cuz I think he's hawt and I thought it looked simplistically rustic:
And what I kinda still do today in paper lo's:
Uropachild - thank you for sharing your personal stories. After sharing that link and seeing your first LO's, it prompted me to want to learn more. What you've journaled has brought me to tears. I can't imagine what you've gone through, but you've shown how strong you are and how your faith and hope has shown you perseverance which prevailed. I just want to give you a big hug! Awesome LO's btw!
Gaiden - I think those first lo's turned out great for just starting! Thanks for making me pull out the first book to see how far I've gone and bringing back fun memories!
DD Twins: 8/4/09 @ 35 Wks - No NICU, woot!
i love it each time we go over this topic again. I learn something new about each of us all over again.
The layouts that you've all shared are great. I love looking back at my first pages of Kayson's. They make me smile and I wouldn't change them for the world. i remember all the time and love I put into them and I figure he won't care if they're not as good as the progressing pages.
I started scrapbooking simply because "I would never pay $50 for a pre-made scrapbook"! I was in a Hallmark store with DH while I was pregnant with Kayson and saw a beautiful scrapbook but thought that was way too expensive, so we drove across to the Hobby Lobby store and the "rest is history" as they say. And I laugh about that, because obviously I've spent that 50 bucks many times over.
