T.J.'s Wall Art

So I finally was able to get to my friends house to use her E. I am glad to have this done and now I can focus on something else. I just painted some canvas and cut these out using New Arrival. They are pop-dotted and chalked to add dimension but the detail washed out in the pics.

Wow, those are darling! Can I ask how long those took you? I'm thinking those would be great baby shower gifts! I've got quite a few I need to attend this month and next.

Honestly, they didn't take long after I got my act together. I painted the canvas' last night and went to a friends house this afternoon. I guess it took about 45 minutes to measure and cut the pieces I needed. Then I came home and it was about an hour to do the chalking, piecing, and gluing. I had never chalked before so I had to practice the colors. Basically the first one took the longest and then the others would just come out pretty quick. My friend who let me use her E is doing them for her nursery because she liked how they came out. (They really look way better in person.)

Wow Nancy!! What a fantastic job and a fabulous idea!! I can't believe they are cardstock!! I thought for sure they were vinyl. Can I ask yet another question? Where did you chalk at? I"m dumb about some things sorry!! Smile

I had originally considered using vinyl but i liked the additional color that the canvas brought to it. As far as the chalking, the flash kind of bleached it out but if you look at the elephant you can see it a little. I mainly chalked the edges of the elephant with a dk grey to help it pop off the page. I also did a little pink on the inside of the ear to accentuate the dimension of the pop dots. I would try to get a better pic but it's overcast outside. I really do have to suggest chalking though. I was very scared of it because I have no artistic talent but even the little bit I did made such a huge difference in the finished product.

Those look AWESOME! What a neat idea to put those on canvases. I need to think outside of the box for Ruthie's room.
