Technique challenge: Inspiration from Everyday Objects - due 8/8

For this challenge, create a layout that is inspired by an everyday object (kind of like a scraplift, but instead of taking your ideas from another layout, you will be taking your ideas from something in the world around you). Use whatever object you want! Some examples might be a magazine, book, or album cover, a product package or advertisement, or a favorite purse or article of clothing. After you choose an object, create a layout based on it. Use similar colors or patterns, similar overall design, fonts, embellishments, etc. (or interpret however you feel appropriate based on the object you chose! Lol

Post a picture of the item that inspired you along with your finished LO. Have fun!!! Biggrin

Deadline for this challenge is August 1st. (Is this deadline okay? Should it be shorter/longer? I've never paid much attention to how long the challenges typically run, so mods feel free to change this if you think it's necessary!)

Katie - we usually do 2-3 weeks, so I think Aug 1 will work.

When this challenge was posted I immediately thought of my patio table. HA!!! I love the blocking of the tiles on it and thought I could mimic that with this LO. Really simple, but that's my style! Smile

Here's the table:

That turned out great, Carrie (K9Trainer) - very cool!

And Carrie (Princess Leia), sorry for making you think during the summer! ROFL

Finished mine finally. I am so glad to be done with this, because I've been singing Paula Abdul's Blowing Kisses in the Wind (or whatever it was called) for the past day and a half...ugh! ROFL These pictures are not showing the colors well at all. I'll try to take new ones in the daylight if I get a chance.

Here's my conditioner bottle, LOL:

And here is my LO:

Journaling: It's been so funny watching your kiss-blowing technique evolve. For months and months Mommy would prompt you to "blow kisses" when saying goodbye. You would happily kiss the back of your hand, but there was no blowing involved. You said bye-bye to everyone this way - Mommy and Daddy, other relatives, even cars pulling out of parking lots! Finally one summer day it was as if you suddenly realized something was missing. Only now, instead of holding up your hand to "blow" the kiss you gave it, you put your hand down, took a deep breath and blew into the air as hard as you could, like you were blowing out a bunch of candles. Too cute!

This was such an awesome challenge, it really made me think but I love the result.

Here is my inspiration, a physics book from college:

Here is the LO:
Kaelan's birthboard is the April '09 love bugs so that's why I chose the theme.

The dress that inspired the layout ... (and is also featured in said layout). If it hadn't been draped on the sofa, the layout might not have happened the way it did.

Wow!!! Katie, that LO is so cute. Love the circle journaling and what a cute way to blow kisses. Smile

Andy, yours is sooooo cute too!!! Love the way the patterened paper curves and that little bug embelly is soooo cute. My fave LO of yours now.

My page is loosely inspired by Kelly's adoption blog. I love the design, but my LO didn't really follow the design. I like the "Wavy Circle" on the she has on the left side of the page and it has some floral design in it. That's what I based my LO off of.

It's a part of a 2 page LO

Great pages ladies! I love where you've found your inspiration!

I wish I could have gotten my page done, but I just didn't have time. My inspiration was going to be the file folders at work. I've got lots of great digi elements that would work with it. Someday I'll get it done! Smile
