Thanks to you ladies...

...I am now considering buying a cricut instead of a new lens for my camera  This is just awful of me! Lol You guys do such great things with your cricuts it makes me want one really really bad. I can only buy one or the other though. That's why I wish the cricut wasn't so expensive. :-? along with the carts. Ugh! I hate being in this position. I want both Smile I'm sure if I did have the cricut, I'd do more paper scrapbooking. I might have to hold out a bit longer though. Oh well! I'll probably just go nuts buying small stuff like ribbons and papers and embelishments, etc. this summer. I have bought alot already but I need more choices it seems because sometimes I sit down to put something together and then give up because I am using the same stuff over and over again and well it kinda sucks Smile I have no embellishments besides stickers and flowers :-? and that gets boring after awhile I think. oh well! i need a job!!! that way i can afford to buy whatever i want when i want lol

I feel your pain Loida, but let me just tell you that although it is nice to have, without several different cartridges, it's not so nice. I got mine as a x-mas gift from my DH and only have the two carts it comes with and find that I don't use it all that often. I just always wind up buying stuff other than the carts cause we "need" it more, ya know? So if you can't afford to buy the extra carts to go with it, I wouldn't stress over buying it.

I trace a lot of shapes and cut them out off the internet and stuff. Anyway, just putting in my two cents. Smile

thanks Smile you know lately i have been sitting down making embellishments out of paper. DD's colored paper! We just made trees yesteray with apples on them Blum 3 haha.. and I made some clouds. She loved gluing the "apples" on the trees Smile I need to buy some more of that paper. I actually bought it at Ikea around Christmas along with christmas Tags but all in different colors (it's amazing what you can get at Ikea for scrapbooking) Smile Maybe I just need to get more creative with the stuff I already do have. I bought paper last year at Michael's when i was visiting my parents. I might go there again but now I have a better idea of what kind of stuff I like to use. I need more pinks and blues and neutral colors. I use those alot. I have alot of red and aqua colors right now. And not so much 12x12 card stock. I also think maybe I need more shaped punchers and some more stamps. AT least now I know what to buy. Smile Last year I had no clue what I needed! I had stopped doing digital after I finished DD's first year and just now (right around the VC) started up again.
sorry this got so long.

Coming from someone who has a tight budget, it's still really nice to have. I don't have a lot of embellishments at home (I need to go shopping! Wink ), nor do I have a lot of carts. You just have to get creative with what you do have! Wink The only carts I have are George and Basic Shapes (which is what it came with) Beyond Birthdays (received for my b-day last year), Christmas Cheer (given to me by my sister), Jasmine (b-day last year), and Wild Card (b-day this year). So, it may take you a while to get stuff, but in my honest opinion, it's worth it. I made all my Christmas presents for grandparents this year, and they were are treasured. I even made some for friends, and they are super curious about how I made them. Of course, I did have to borrow some carts from my sister (she has more $ Wink ) but it's well worth it.

As for extra things to buy....I love my stamps, especially when I am in a hurry to make a card. They always come in handy. Plus, Ruthie LOVES to play with them. Buy paper when it's on sale and always save your scraps. Those are always great to work with on the Cricut, and when you make cards. I hardly ever make a card from a whole page. I always try to use my scraps.

Sorry for the ramble! Wink

We're so enabling. Dirol

I'm sure your DH just loves you hanging on this board. Wink

But if you do get a Cricut, you won't be disappointed. If you have the patience I'd wait until you could find a really good deal on one (like Black Friday). I'm glad I waited and know every bit I spent was worth it.

Well I'll tell you what then... You just need to come to the U.S. for Thanksgiving and really good turkey (cause I'm sure they don't have that either) and then you'll be here for Black Friday.

I love my Cricut but I agree that the extra carts are nice. I buy mine off ebay and save A TON!! But Im a little confused as to why you would need BOTH machines? You only need one, the Create (the middle of the road) is great cause it does what the big machine does but its cheeper and smaller. The big one would be nice to do a whole 12x12 sheet on but really its not necessary.

I find that I don't really use stickers anymore, I tend to cut embellishments with the cricut. but you do want to have a few carts to have choices. Smile it's fun though!

I'm about to buy a new lens. Wink I played with my friend's Sigma 30mm 1.8 last night, and it was nice.

30mm 1.8? you sure it's 1.8 and not 1.4? Smile DH's friend is coming over one of these weekends and bringing over the 30mm 1.4 lens. I can't wait! It will be love at first...shot? lol

maybe it is 1.4. but when I was playing with it, the most I could step it up to was 1.8.

As a digi-scrapper, I'd totally say go for the lens! lol But if you're wanting to get back into paper, from what I've seen the Cricut can do, that looks nice too ... hmmmmm ... hard choice!
