Me...me...me!!! I was disappointed. It was NOT my Edward on that screen. Though I thought Bella was cast well. I thought the acting was second rate too. And I don't know about your theater, but were I was there were TONS of younger girls and lots of screaming during the movie...like they were at a rock concert. Too weird for me I guess. Won't stop me from seeing any more of the movies, but I LOVED the books way better.

I was very pleased with it. I went in with really low expectations, so I was happy with it. There is NO way they could re-create the book to the T, but I think they did a good job. I wasn't too happy with Edward at first, but by the end, I was. Now Jacob on the other hand, (I am a huge Jacob fan in the book), omg. I sure hope they do better in NM, b/c I can't get over how bad he looked. I wish they would have elaborated more on the characters, but I know that's too hard to do in one movie. They did a really good job in my honest opinion. I want to take Randall to watch it.

went to see it opening night!!
i thought the acting itself was kinda lame! and i hated how arrogant edward was...
It moved along really fast too.
and Carrie there was so many little girls screaming during our movie too!!
at one point someone yelled to them to SHUT UP!!! i mean it got really bad they were screaming when he was "flying" i was like come on shut up we cant even hear what theyre saying!!!!!!
but all in all it gave me my edward fix... for a minute anyway lol

Question for those of you that saw it - do you need to read the books first to 'get' it?

I haven't seen it. but i am dissapointed with who they cast for Edward. He is NOT what i was thinking when i was reading the book. There are some snapshots of him that i like....like the one in my avatar, but he's still nothing like i though. And i looked up Jacob...and he's nothing what I thought either. I think Bella is right on though.

again, i still need to see the movie. And i do tend to like the books better.

There are some parts that I personally don't think you would get if you haven't read the book. That's just my opinion. Example- if you hadn't read the book, you wouldn't understand why Jasper is acting like he is. It was a little odd.

A friend of mine went with me to see it and she has not read the books, but she really enjoyed it and plans to read the books now Smile

There were not a lot of young girls when I went. We all giggled and laughed a lot, but it was mostly women and some men at my showing.

I agree with you on Edward. He was totally not what I wanted to see. I couldn't get over his hair!

I thought they did a good job on sticking to the book. There were a few scenes with artistic license and I didn't like that they moved/changed the kiss scene, but all was good overall. I loved all the adolesent humor in the beginning.

I hadn't read the books at all but a friend was really into the Twilight books and wanted to go to the movie. Since her husband outright refused, she invited me on a "date" instead. We went on Saturday.

Luckily I live in a small town. New theater, not that big of a crowd and a respectful audience.

That said, I understood the movie perfectly, having not read the book at all. Made me want to read the books in fact. I didn't think I'd like it- being it's about vampires... but I was more then pleasantly surprised.

I don't get the Edward love. (The actor, not the character. I get the character.)
