These two layouts took me DAYS, but only because I haven't had a huge chunk of time to scrapbook.
The first is my layout for the monochrome challenge. I also used the Project 12 sketch that Sarah told us about back in January for it. I think this is what I'll do with my project 365 photos, just pick a few to highlight my month.
This is a digi layout, and I went through a TON of kits to get the different shades of blue for it. I also recolored a lot of them.
And then this is the paper layout I've been struggling with. It's not how I wanted it to be, but I don't want extra elements to take away from it. I feel like the Hershey kisses are lame though. I'm afraid to color on the white paper strips on the kisses because I don't want to screw them up. But I don't like how they look. I had a cool hat and scarf border sticker I wanted to use, but it clashed with the red of the title so I didn't use it.
We surprised the kids with a trip to Hersheypark's Christmas Candylane. We packed their bags and didn't tell them where we were going. Of course, Andrew can read, but he didn't even notice the signs until we were about 5 miles out from the park. They were THRILLED! It was cold though, so we were bundled up the whole time. The kids went on as many rides as they could. Poor Jack didn't get to leave his stroller at all for a ride. He was such a good sport about it. We enjoyed hot chocolate, and a short break from the cold. We also took the kids to see Santa, and Jack was great about sitting on Santa's lap. He enjoyed the Hershey kisses afterward even more. We stayed until after it got dark, but left when we couldn't feel our toes anymore. We stayed at a hotel nearby, and the kids all had a blast in the hotel pool the next morning. It was a fantastic trip!!!!

And I embossed the background mat on the photo strips, but the flash kinda blows it out here. I tried to get a close up so you can see. I might try a natural light photo of the layout if I get some time today.
Gwen, project 12 layout is great. I love it. Looks clean and balanced and great pictures.
My computer is not pulling up the Hersheys' layout pages righ now
Love the texture. It turned out great.
LOVE the digi lo. I think you did a great job using the blues. I have never tried a mono page, and you make me want to. I agree, crisp and well done!
As for the other lo. I agree, the kisses aren't doing much for me. This maybe even more lame, but add something on the kisses? Maybe cut some teeny tiny red hearts and add them. I think something with the kisses would help. Feel free to ignore me though! Great job on the hidden journaling! I squinted my eyes and read it on the picture THEN scrolled down and saw that you typed it out! Stupid me!

I am really liking the LO of the Hershey page. I would probably emphasize the kisses more. To you have any of the foil paper. Silver foiling over the kisses would be cool. I would do a test piece and see what glitter would like on it as well. It just needs to be shinier I think. But then again, I like shiny things.
Gwen ... these are AWESOME (as always)!
I think what is bothering me about the kisses is that they just don't pop enough. Their texture and the texture of the bg are too close. Can you shadow or mat the kisses? either in the same red you used for the titles or just plain old black?
Best of luck!
I'm going to lift your design (again) on the Hershey layout! Very nice!! And so is the hidden journaling. I'm a little popdots crazy, so what I would do is cut a couple more Hershey kisses and use pop dots on just a couple and stick them right on top of the ones. So you have a few that are 3-D. That's all...other than that I think it's perfect!!

thanks for all of the ideas! the kisses are already stuck down, so I think I might try what Charys suggested. maybe since it's Christmas, I'll cut them out of red and green. I wish I had good texture but I can always use glitter glue or something on the little ones. what a neat idea!
Great pages Gwen! I love the texture behind the photos on the Hershey park. I'll have to remember that for a future LO.
