VC Challenge #2 "Techniqually challenged"

Soooo, sometimes we are all short on ideas right? This challenge I want you to create a NEW layout using one of the "layout ideas" in the Scrapbooking Intro Sticky at the top:

LAYOUT IDEAS:
Take a layout you have done that you love, and recreate it with different colors and a different theme. (In other words, CASE a layout of your own!)
Scrap a ffice:smarttags" />Holiday in “non-traditional” colors—(Pastel Christmas, Pastel New Years???)
Scrap any celebration
Scrap a family tradition
Scrap an event that includes some sort of food (Picnic, Thanksgiving, restaurant)
Scrap a sports event or a game
Do a layout that includes toys in some way
Do an Animal layout (zoo, pets, could be Halloween, ???)
Do a SPRING layout
Do a SUMMER layout
Do a FALL layout
Do a WINTER layout
Do a Heritage layout
C.A.S.E. a layout-- (other than your own) (copy and steal everything J)—use the same colors and techniques.
Do a WATER layout (beach, pool, pond, bathtub, rainstorm—squirt-gun--anything water—could also be a snow layout!)
Use a quote on a layout
Use a prayer on a layout
Use a Bible verse on a layout
Do a mosaic layout
Do a “Totally Me” layout using your pictures of you doing your “stuff.”
(Share this online for an extra point!)
Scrap a Patriotic Page
Scrap a current event (within the past year)
Do a vacation layout
Use “Something from the Kitchen” in a layout (?)
Scrap an accomplishment—yours or family member
Do an “ITS BROKEN” layout—(Toy, leg, car ???)
Use a poem on a layout (extra point if you write the poem!)
Do a Holiday layout
Do a paper-tearing layout
Do a “Like father like son” or “Like Mother Like Daughter” layout (like grandpa-like granddaughter?) mother-son, father-daughter,
(doesn’t have to have that title, just that content)
Do a “STEP INTO THE PAST” layout--
Do a HOUSE AND HOME layout
Do a CAREER layout (if you are a SAHM or Grandma—that is a career!)
Do a SCHOOL layout
Do a CHURCH activity layout
Do a BEFORE and AFTER layout (diet, pregnancy, dirty to clean)
Do a Color-Blocking layout
Do a “Nautical” layout
Do a SAND layout—(either in color, texture, content—use your own judgment)
Make a “page that moves” Pop-up or pull
Do a peek-a-boo page
Make a layout without pictures—must have journaling
Put memorabilia on a page (like coins, baby bracelet, tassel from graduation)
Make a quilt page
Make a pocket page
Do a panoramic layout (with those page protectors that make it a 4-page layout)
Do a garden layout
Do a paper folding on a layout
Decorate the four corners of layout
Use a photo for template letters
use at least three photos on a page
Do calligraphy

But there's a catch!! Biggrin I want you to try a new technique too. For the digi scrappers, you could try using a function of your program you haven't tried yet. (ie. a new brush, etc.)
For paper scrappers, try something different or put a twist on something you've done. (ie. using sponges or erasers to create a stamped image, etc.)

Post a pic of your layout here by midnight on Monday, August 4th, and your name will be put into a drawing for a fun prize!!

I'm looking forward to doing something new. I always enjoy something new, but rarely do it.

Here is mine. I decorated the 4 corners and for my new technique, this was the first time I tried using a freehand paintbrush.

Is there anything cuter than that hair? I miss that! Biggrin Great layout!! The colors are so nice together and the brush strokes are my favorite part of the layout. (Other than that pic of course)

Here's mine just for fun! (scan quality not the greatest)

"Water" LO and my new technique was cutting the picture like I did. I really liked the effect, but am not happy with the page overall. I wish I would have done it differently. I can even picture it entirely different in my head. Oh well! I will do that gradual cutting again.

Love the picture cutting! I did that on a pic a long time ago...I don't know why I haven't done it since. Awesome technique!

It looks great Charys. I need to try that with a picture, it would be so easy with digital and I like how it turned out.

I like the gradual cutting! I thought it was a mat at first until I read and looked again. Nice job!

Those are both great! I love Andrea's hair. I know you are probably tired of hearing that, but it's so stinking cute. Bet it's easier to tame now huh? Lol

Charys- I am so stealing that idea. I love the way you cut your photo. It looks awesome! I might just use the "stealing" technique!

This is the page I made to go with the page above, it isn't really for this challenge but thought I would post it in the same thread anyway.

Stephanie - cute pages! I always smile when I see Andrea and her baby hair

Charys - I LOVE the picture cutting like that! Very cool! And neat layout!!!

Okay so from the list I did two things actually:
Scrap an accomplishment—yours or family member
Put memorabilia on a page (like coins, baby bracelet, tassel from graduation)

And the technique was sewing with the sewing machine on the page. I've always wanted to do that but never have. This was the perfect page to do it on!!! Not sure if you can tell, but I sewed the borders at the top and bottom (they're paper, I stitched through them).

I really struggled with finding the right colored papers for this page - I spent forever looking through my papers and trying to pick the background and the patterned paper. But I'm really happy with my final choices. Smile

The memorabilia is the fabric and ribbon from the dresses sewn onto the page.

Journaling:

I only started sewing earlier this year but I was bound
and determined to make dresses for my two girls
I ripped a lot of stitches out (too many to count),
and I know where to find the flaws in my sewing.
But looking at the finished dresses on the girls,
I am happy with my work. They’re beautiful!

Oh, it turned out great! Fantastic job. I want a sewing machine so bad but DH said it's too expensive for me to buy to use as a scrapbooking tool! Smile

My entry for this thread. I used a scripture verse on the page. It says "I am fearfully and wonderfully made" I also used ribbon for the first time (not sure if I like it at all but I'm just getting into embellishments).

Stephanie, the second page really ties nicely with the first! Glad you posted it here!

Gwen, amazing! The stitching and fabric is so cool!!!!

Meg, I love your use of ribbon here. Very creative. And the verse is perfect! (I have that same background paper and haven't used it yet...your color choices gave me a starting point.)
