VC Challenge #4 - Portrait Layout

The idea behind this challenge is to create a layout using a portrait picture (i.e. a "professional" portrait that's 5x7 or larger in size). If you don't have any, then use an enlarged photo for this layout. But if you have a portrait type enlarged picture, great! Be creative!!!! This challenge is for both digi and paper scrappers, and the prize is $5 at Two Peas. The winner will be randomly chosen at the end.

LOOK MOM! A SCRAPBOOK PAGE .... BY ME!

Gwen ... you got me inspired to get off my duff and scrap a page. And I just happened to have these 5x7 prints of our family pictures hanging around.

It's a simple page, but I'm thrilled to have done a page ... first one in over a year (for paper scrapping)!

journalling is in the envelope and lists milestones for the year for us all.

Best,
GiGi

Gigi, great swirls on the paper! Did you do that yourself? Is there journaling inside the little envelope? It's a great page.

Missy, the cut outs are beautiful and match the photo perfectly. I know that must've taken a lot of time, but it's well worth it.

Angie, great football lacing! It's something I'd have never thought of.

here's mine. it's my entry for the paper piecing challenge. Wink I wanted to stitch around the birds but my machine doesn't have the right stitch (and my hand drawn ones don't look right).

Funny looking at these with Jack at the same exact age. Wink

heres mine! Biggrin its a super crappy pic since its dark out here and we have like no overhead lights in this apartment!! i will take a better pic tomorrow. the ribbon on the side is attached to journaling, explaining why this pic is so special(and hilarious). Smile the words "nine" have stickles and months has a black outline. but its really hard to see in this crap pic.

no problem!

it says- this picture is so special because of the story behind it. you were 9 months old, and a new walker. We thought it was hilarious because it looks like you were doing a dance by hip hop artist, soulja boy. You were actually in the middle of taking a step. The photographer also commented on your popped collar. The collar combined with this pose was just too funny not to buy!

and please tell me someone else has heard of soulja boy! i swear im not THAT young! Lol

Another simple share from me. We don't have professional portraits done, although we also don't have family photos! (need to make use of that remote I got for my birthday or swap family sessions with a friend) anyway... this is as close as I like to get to "professional portrait" and it is big at least lol (7 x 9.8 in). The blue papers are freebies... can't remember where from, the all boy font is "action jackson" a freebie from dafont.com and the rest I drew myself.

oh if anyone is interested the journalling says "Of all the photos I have taken this is one of my favourites and it is definitely a favourite of you so far.. That serious stare and those big blue eyes... too cute for words! Really it’s no wonder you were looking at me like that, I was sitting on the kitchen floor with you stuck behind the playpen “fence” I just loved the way the light was reflecting in your eyes and had to take advantage of it while the moment lasted"

JOURNALING

I remember my mom calling, asking me to go to a last minute dinner.
You were leaving that week to visit family in Texas and wanted to see
all us grandkids before you left. I had other plans and told my mom
I couldn't make it. At the last minute Justin and I got into an
argument so I decided to go. Since dinner was at a buffet we were
there for a long time. So long that they were closing and told us we
had to be going. You however did not want to leave without dessert
so you went to the do it yourself icecream machine and made the biggest
cone I had ever seen! When we got in the car your cone was so big
that it fell over. You and Abuella were crying so hard from laughing
as you tried to pick up the icecream and put it back on your cone.
When we got to your house I gave you a hug and kiss goodbye and
told you that I loved you.
A week later I was so happy I did. My mom called and told me
to sit down. While on a relaxing morning walk in Texas you were
hit by a car and died. Grandpa's are supposed to die of old age, not
from being hit by a car!
Although I still miss you so much, I cherish that last laughing
memory that I had with you.
Abuello I love you, so much more than icecream!

Lauren - love it! so cute!!!

Amy - that DID turn out nice, I really like it!

Candace - I was admiring this layout in the show and tell, glad you put here too - nice!

Finally I figured out this layout. I used 4x6s of several shots from our portrait session last August.

Yes those are my feet ROFL

I used Opposites Attract for the Title, Serenade for the branches and Walk In My Garden for the flowers.

Here's mine! My munchkins Smile The quote wrapped around the picture reads: "The family. We were a strange little band of characters trudging through life sharing diseases and toothpaste, coveting one another's desserts, hiding shampoo, borrowing money, locking each other out of our rooms, inflicting pain and kissing to heal it in the same instant, loving, laughing, defending, and trying to figure out the common thread that bound us all together."

Stephanie- you did a fantastic job on that extraction! I suck at that so I'm always impressed when I see it done well Smile

Tia- that totally made me cry, I was just reminiscing about my pop on facebook with my cousins last night. I'm so glad you made it to that dinner and got to tell him you loved him.

Gwen- Natalie and Jack look so much alike! I've never noticed it before, I guess I was always thrown off by their hair, I love Natalie's 18 mth LO the colours look great with her pretty little dress.

It's just a font - not my handwriting (I wish!). I'd love to get my writing fonticizied, but it's expensive!

That particular font is Pea Carlisle, here (free)
