Vinyl Wall Decals GALORE!!!

A friend came over today to craft, she brought her expression. I bought some vinyl recently, but was saving it for our craft day! I wanted to wait so I could get some bigger cuts. Check out everything we made! I am so stinking excited about how the ones in Miles' playroom turned out! They're so cute I can hardly stand it!!!!

A butterfly in our kitchen (The butterfly is from Storybook, the swirl from Home Decor)

Monkey in Miles' playroom (monkey is Zooballoo, branch is Home Decor)

Airplane in Miles' playroom (airplane is New Arrival and the clouds are from Zooballoo)

Truck also in Miles' playroom (New Arrival)

We also did 2 birds on the window of our front door but I had a hard time getting a good picture of those!

I'm obsessed with vinyl, can you tell? I already have some others in our house that I bought before!

Those are soooooo fun!!!!!!!!! I love the ones in Mile's room!! OMG, so want to copy them. Smile The truck is my fave. Love how you put it low on the wall towards the ground...his eye level. I'd never have thought of that. You must have a lot of different colors of vinyl. Where did you get yours' from?

Charys, I actually only have 3 colors - brown, tan, and another darker tan. My friend has a bunch - red, blue, white, orange, grey, yellow, and more I can't remember! I gave her some of my colors to use some of her colors!

BUT!!!!

I ordered mine from www.ohmycrafts.com - I ordered their generic kind. It was only $4.99 for 2 - 12x24 sheets, plus I got an additional 20% off my entire purchase. Sign up for their eMail list, they often send coupon codes! I thought I'd give their brand a try since it was so much cheaper than the Cricut brand. And then today, my friend has the cricut brand vinyl, they're EXACTLY the same!!! The backs both say Oracal...seriously the exact same, for less than half the price!!! And ohmycrafts has a TON of colors to choose from!

Great to know! Isn't that crazy how expensive things are if ordered through Cricut? Like I can't understand why people would even buy the Cricut paper packs!! I've ordered carts from OMC before, so get their emails. Didn't realize they carried vinyl too. I would love to do these for the boy's room.

I know! Just paying for the name! I definitely got my money's worth, too. If I would have ordered things like this from a catalog I would have spent a fortune! I still have quite a bit of vinyl left, it actually goes a long way if you use it wisely!

OMG!!! I didn't even realize you could get color!!! Those are awesome Ashley!!! Now can you reposition those, or take them off easy? OR are they pretty well stuck? How big is that monkey and that truck? I mean do you remember what your dial was set at to cut them???

Just went to look at ohmycrafts. Wowzers!!! Now it says you can get four colors for 19.99, so does that mean you get one 12x24 roll of each color? And then they talk about transfer tape, can you tell me what this is and how you stick them on? Sorry for all the questions!!

When you get the 4 colors for $19.99 you'll get 2 - 12x24 sheets of each like you would if you got them at their normal cost! I just went to double check.

The transfer tape you need to be able to put on your walls. We were able to re-use small pieces, and didn't need to use any for the larger simple pieces (like the truck). I still have quite a bit left, again, goes a long ways.

Here's what we did...
We put the vinyl on the mat. The vinyl has a paper backing, we left that on for this part.

Cut image.

We peeled the leftover vinyl off around our image.

Cut transfer tape to a size that will fit over the image. (not perfect, just a square big enough to cover it so we could save some of it)

Peel the paper backing off the transfer tape so it's sticky, stick over what you just cut on the mat and peel it off (so now the vinyl is stuck to the transfer tape, and it peeled off the paper that was stuck to the back of the vinyl while you pulled it off)

Put on wall! You have to rub it to get the vinyl to now stick to the wall, and slowly peel away the transfer tape.

They come off the wall easily if I decide I don't want them (I think you could use a credit card to peel it off), but they're not re-usable. They're well stuck now, Miles won't be able to pull the truck off or anything with it at his level.

We cut the monkey at 20", the branch at 19" (this was very tricky to put up since the monkey was overlapping his tail on the branch!)

The truck I think was 14" - not positive! The airplane was also 14" I think. We used the Fit to Length option and those were the sizes that we got!

AHHHHH!!! Can't see them! I so wish I could b/c I have been wanting to put some vinyl around the house. BUT, I need to paint first. Wink I am sure they look AWESOME!!! I think the vinyl I get from my cousin is all Oracal. She uses it for car decals.
