Walmart and Envelopes

Don't know if this would be the same at Walmarts everywhere, but when I was in Walmart yesterday I noticed the lady stocking the cards wearing an American Greetings apron. I went up to her and asked her what she does with all the extra envelopes when they are re-stocking, and explained I'd love to have them if she was going to throw them away. She told me to meet her the day after Mother's Day (or the day after any holiday) and she'd give them all to me. YAY! I'm going to go down there and meet her for sure. I'd asked Walmart a long time ago about this, but they said they outsource their card stocking to American Greetings, so couldn't give me the envelopes. Glad I happened to run into the lady. Wink

It's worth asking about....can't beat free envelopes in every color.

I'm trying to figure how this all will go down. Like, are you planning on popping a tent at 12:01 on the day after Mother's day waiting for her? Lol I need to know how to know when the lady will be there!!!

Ohhh, and there is 2 Walmarts here so if I timed it just right... ROFL

Details, Charys, details, I need to figure this out.

I have only been into Walmart twice since like last May, and last time I swore it woudl be the last!!! HATE it!!! Sad BUT, Target doesn't carry invitation envelopes so I went to get those. Smile

That is a super deal though Charys, and I too am interested to hear how it all goes down.

I get extras from Dollar General!! We did a card project for our VBS and they let me have stacks of their extra envelopes! I asked about a month in advance and they saved about 100 envelopes for me.

So instead of having to stalk WM, go ask at your local DG (if you have one). Smile

I never even thought to ask about that! What a great idea (and you can't beat free!).
I will definitely check into that next time I see someone stocking cards.

Maybe I should just talk to the store manager and soften him up first by telling him that we named Garin after him;) I was going to save that and try for free diapers for life though:)

My sister used to work for a card company stocking the cards after each holiday. I can't remember if it was American Greetings or which one, though. And I was at Target the day after Easter and somebody was there switching out the cards. All they do is throw them away (that's what my sister used to have to do but she'd give some to me).

That's awesome she gave you a ton!

hahaha, you girls have me laughing today! Biggrin Guess I needed the grins.

The card lady at our wm is there around 10am, so that's when I'm going down. Wink You could call your WM and ask when the American Greetings rep usually arrives, then try to ambush her then. Wink hahahaha!!!

BTW Kelly, KUP is you get the envelopes too!

Carrie, I hate WM too, but it's all we have here, so there is no other choice. But honestly you just can't beat their prices most of the time and I'm such a tight wad.

We're rural, too. We have to drive 45 minutes and/or across state lines to get to a Walmart. Our closest Target or mall is 2 hours away! But our town did move up a notch when the poor man's Walmart (Dollar General) moved into town. And people fought them bringing it here! Crazy people! Smile
