What do you do for Easter? ot

Just wondering what you ladies do for Easter each year?

When I was a kid my parents used to take us easter egg hunting. I loved it! DD had her first easter egg hunt last year but here at home, indoors because it was too cold to go outside. I'm used to warm weather during easter. Not snow everywhere. And well DH isn't big into Easter (we have totally different beliefs). Growing up he's always gotten the idea that Easter is all about snowboarding and skiing. Blum 3 I wish I could give the same to my kids that I had when I was a kid. Easter baskets aren't sold here. Only large empty (ugly) eggs. I'm not sure if they do easter egg hunts here either. And I'm clueless on what to do for DD this year. I don't want her growing up thinking the same thing as DH. But that's a whole different story. I did want to go buy some plastic eggs (that don't open just for decoration only) and paint them with DD. She loves to paint. And I might print off some Easter coloring pages. But apart from that...we don't do much. Sad DH isn't really into holidays so he could care less and its hard to do anything when he's that way. I wish he was more into things like that. I just love holidays and being in the spirit of it all. Smile I really wish it was spring weather here already. So..what do you do on Easter Sunday? Maybe I can get some ideas. Smile I was thinking of doing some hard boiled eggs then dye them...but then what will I do with so many eggs? lol I hate eating hard boiled eggs. Maybe an egg salad? Anyone have any recipes? lol Thought I'd ask here since I noticed a lot of you ladies on here go to a church. Smile Wish I had one around times like these! I hope that's ok!

DH and I have a tradition of dying about a dozen eggs and hiding them around the house. Easter morning is search time. We use the eggs for egg-salad sandwiches, deviled eggs, potato salad, etc.

Now that Andrea is older we do egg hunts with groups the week prior as well, but our tradition is the dyed eggs.

On Saturday Kayson and his "cousin" Rori will dye boiled eggs. I can't wait to watch them....this will be their first time. Smile Then we'll hide them on Sunday morning around the yard and let them find them. After they find them, we're going to use them for deviled eggs at lunch. Wink Sunday we are going to make "nests" out of twigs, sticks, moss, etc. that we find around the country (at Gigi's) and put all their little gifts inside of them. The nests will probably be 2 ft. wide, so we'll have room for their presents from the Easter Bunny. Wink All the aunts, grandparents, etc. will just stick their pressies in the nests. So, that's about it. I'm sorry it's so hard to find things there. Sad Phooey. I wish I'd have known and I could've sent you some eggs and things...next time let me know!

Well last year we just did up a cute basket and made a big deal of having it all set out for when he came downstairs Easter Morning. This year we will go to church for the Easter Drama (DH has s peaking part in it and we both are working on the sets). And when we come home we will give Xavier his basket and presents. At the beginning of the week we will have a Easter egg hunt with all the daycare kids. And on Thursday we will have another one at the library (we go each Thursday morning for story time). On Saturday after DH gets home from work we are going to try decorating eggs with Xavier. Last year he was too young, but I am hoping this year he will enjoy it. We always did it as kids with my grandma. So I want to make it a tradition with Xavier.

sounds like fun everyone! i'm going to try my hardest to find Jeanette an easter basket around the malls around here. Hopefully they'll have some in sweden when we go this weekend. I'd hate to use the same one as last year. :-? She's been playing with it so it won't be new anymore. And...it was just a plastic bucket Blum 3 I want a real basket. But I could look in 10 different stores around here and not find a single easter basket. Just alot of ugly carboard gigantic eggs. I think we will dye easter eggs on Saturday. I'll just make the eggs into sandwiches or something Blum 3 DH loves egg sandwiches..i'll tell him to stuff himself lol

ahh Easter dramas. I miss those Sad I was in one when I was a kid. I'll always remember it. It was awesome!

We usually dye eggs, sometime before Easter. My family usually gets together and hunts eggs for the kids. My niece is getting baptized that Sunday, so we will head to our church, as soon as it's over, we are going to hurry to their church, watch her baptism, then probably go to their house to hunt eggs. After, we will go back to our church for the evening service. I absolutely love Easter. It's one of my favorite holidays. It's such an uplifting holiday. Biggrin

We will probably dye our eggs today or tomorrow. And save them for Easter morning. This year for the first time, Patrick gets his own basket that he picked out himself. It's blue and purple and he loves it.

Sunday morning he will find out whats in that, and then we will go to church or eat brunch with MIL depending on how she's feeling.

Then Sunday afternoon we will go to my moms for the easter egg hunt and Patricks baskets (yes he's the first baby in the family so he gets royally spoiled) and then eat lots of food.
