What do you think? Final invite, pg 2

I sat down today to draw out some designs for a Baby Shower card so I knew what I needed for supplies, etc, before starting. This one came to me and it just seemed to come together so well.

Of course it's ROUGH. There will be colored pages with printed inserts.

Is any info missing? Is it too crowded? Anything that should be added (decorative wise)? Should I stamp a baby image on the blank back sides of the inserts? I have to make a bunch of these... so a little fuss is good- a lot, no. Smile

Let me know what you think.

Oh, it's a standard homemade card size... 5.5 by approx 4 inches.

Wow, those will be fabulous! I love the matchstick book idea. Are you sure it won't be too much work though? Could you reduce one page or something to make it easier on yourself? But if you don't mind doing them, they are going to turn out wonderful!

It's 3 pieces of 4x7 paper that's staggered and then folded over. I plan on making it that way too. All the pages are info that needs to be in the invite. I plan on having a cardstock background and then printing the info pages off on the computer, cutting them down and pasting that in. I thought that would take the least amount of time overall, as I'd already have to cut down all the inserts... and then make sure every one made it in every card.

I agree! I think they will be very cute. We did the book instead of card thing for my shower too and my DH actually found the cutest type of poem to explain bringing a book instead of card, I will try to find it for you.

Oh, and I REALLY love the idea of signing a book instead of a card! Baby/kids books aren't much more expensive than a card from hallmark or whatever, so that's an awesome idea - and more 'green', too - who throws a book out?

I ordered the paper today. Pastel cardstock for the flip pages and Nana's Kids paper for splashes of color. So I can get started making them next week. Smile

Ok sorry it took me awhile to find my old invites but i found them. I'm just going to copy exactly how it was on my invite so it will include my name and my son's name too.

As Amanda's due date is coming near,
We're inviting friends and family dear.
To choose a favorite story or fairy tale,
That you would like baby Ryne to hear.
Instead of a card, please let Amanda look,
At your special choice of a book,
and then to baby Ryne she will read,
With all the love a newborn will need.
So with a personal touch, please choose a book
And in it then your name do put.
It need not cost more than a card,
Just pick a favorite, it shouldn't be hard.

Hope that helps! Smile

9 hours in one day and another 3 hours since and I have 40 made. SIL's mother just told me she needs 25 more. Yeah, I'll be simplifying those.

Here are in progress type shots and the cards. Ran out of orange, so I did some in choc brown. Now I need to get a 3rd color. It's non-traditional baby colors, but still works.

BTW, do you get what the cover is supposed to be? (Hint, my bro's last name is Button)

That's about right. But since I'm 400 miles away... it's a lasting way I can help. My mom and her mom will do most of the food. The other bridesmaids are doing the decorations.

I've got a lot of old/homemade gifts for them..... money is tight here. So this is a way I can help and make it memorable. My brother is SO worth it to me... he and I were the absolute best of friends until we got married, when, very understandably we changed our ultimate allegiance to our spouses. We're still close.

They things I have for them are very meaningful though- some of the few books my brother actually liked as a kid (as in the originals... the very books he read from), a stuffed animal that he played with off and on as a kid (not his favorite, but still one that survived and was put into my box of stuff), a yellow receiving blanket for the baby (my brother still to this day sleeps with a yellow receiving blanket with yellow satin ribbing. I've bought him a new one two times in his life and helped him rescue it from where grandma threw it away when we were kids), etc. So all in all, it should even out in thoughtfulness, what I couldn't put in price.

Sounds like this is a very meaningful way to help.

I have to laugh at the line I quoted, because dh is still scarred that his mom/grandparents tossed his old grubby blankie:)
