What do you use to cut mats for photos?

I was just thinking yesterday as I was working on a LO. Am I the only one who uses scissors to cut my mats for my pictures in a LO? I use my trimmer for the photos, but them just lay them down on the mat and cut around it with my scissors. It usually works out okay, sometimes it's a bit off, but wondering if I am doing it the hard way. Do you guys use your trimmer for your photos too? I guess I do it this way because I often change the color of my mats so I don't want to glue my photos down to early. What do yall do???

I use my trimmer when cutting mats. I place my picture on the page and mark with pencil where I need to cut. Sometimes I use a ruler to mark the mats and then cut.

I use my paper trimmer. I usually figure out how big I want it and then use the ruler on the paper cutter.

I should add that my scissor cutting is horrible. My edges are always choppy and such when I try to use scissors for something big.

I use my trimmer as well. I usually glue down my picture then trim as needed around it.

I use my paper trimmer. I usually line up the picture on the cardstock or paper to see how big I want it, then trim. I don't adhere the pic till later. Ocasionally I will change my mind on the color of the mat like you said, so if I already cut the wrong color it will go into my scrap stash. I'm usually cutting out of scraps anyway so it's not a big deal. If I were cutting into a whole piece of paper I would probably try to be a little more sure I was going to stick with my choice before I made a cut into it. Wink

I use Perfect Layers (click). It is awesome. I have had it about 2 years and use it almost every layout.

I use my paper trimmer. Because I often change my mind about mats, I use these little repositional squares to attach the photos to the mat paper and then I cut. I can pull the photo off no problem if I change my mind and if I like it, I just add a bit more adhesive.

Fiskars paper trimmer here. Sometimes I adhere the picture first (line it up how close to the edge I want it on 2 sides) then trim the other 2 sides...or sometimes I do like Kebrina said and mark w/ pencil then trim, then adhere pic.

Maybe I ought to give my paper trimmer a try huh? LOL Picture me holding the picture on the page I want to mat and then cutting around it. LOL But I ALWAYS do this for real. Smile

I can't even imagine scissors to do it!

I adhere my photo to the paper and then use the trimmer to cut it.

LOL, me too. I'm so bad with scissors now, it's not even funny.
