Default Where do you get buttons?

I love how some of you use buttons as embellishments, but I think I'm looking in the wrong places for them. I've only seen little packs of a few in the $1 scrapbook section at JoAnn. Is there a section of the store or something that just has a big bucket of assorted buttons, or where do you get your buttons from?

At joann's they sell a tub of buttons, I get mine from walmart, I can't remember the name, darn it. Anyway they have them hanging on a spinning rack and have all different colors, shapes and sizes, I wanna say they are like 1.70 something. In the craft dept by the patterns and thread. Also you can look online, I think its called bag of buttons.

The ones I have I got as gifts as part of a big assortment of scrapbooking supplies. I have never purchased them myself. But, I have seen them in big tubs at my local SB supply store.

I buy the box of assorted buttons at Walmart for only .88 cents!! Infact, I just picked up 2 more boxes. ONe for a friend and one to keep. The one box I've had has lasted me through every page I've done!

The ones I have seen in the SBing section are so much more money for less buttons then just regular buttons in the sewing dept. I paid wayyyy too much money for some at the SBing store.

Thanks! I need just a few groceries, so maybe I'll go to Wal-Mart and check out the boxes of buttons - thank you!

Random side note: a salesperson at Walmart said they are getting rid of the fabric department in the next couple of months (I think she said end of March). She was under the impression that many if not all Walmarts would be doing this. They are going to add in more party supplies instead (wedding planning supplies, etc).

I just thought this might impact the button supply!

Yes, they are getting rid of fabrics, along with patterns etc, all of the Walmarts by me have already done so. But they do have ribbons, buttons, thread, zippers, sowing machines, etc etc still.

My closest walmart did that and it sucks if I do say so myself. We went from having 2 aisles of scrapbooking stuff to 1 and I crochet and the yarn supply was cut 1/2. Mine doesn't even sell cricuts anymore, just a few carts. Thankfully I have 2 in the area that haven't downsized thier crafts dept yet, I really hope they don't.
