Ok... so i downloaded a bunch of papers and elements. So i go into PSE and create a new file.... put in the pictures I want and whatever.. however, when I go to put in the elements, there is always a white box around it. How do I get rid of that, so I'm just left with the element?? (there's gotta be something simple that I'm missing here)! Please help! Thanks!
Are they jpg or png files? png files should have a transparent background.
If they are jpg and you want to get rid of the white stuff, take your magic eraser tool (or magic wand) to select the color (white) and hit delete, it should get rid of most of it. HTH! If it doesn't, let me know!
Oh, and you probably know this, but make sure when you make your document you set it as a transparent background too!
Well i'm not on my home computer, but i'm assuming that since the elements have a white box around it that they are jpg files. I will try the technique you suggested!
And I did not know about the transparent background!!! (How does that differ than having a regular background??)
So much to learn.....
Transparent background will make it so you don't have the white border around it. Much more important if you ever make your own element, but it's a good habit to get into (otherwise it'll be a white background instead of a 'clear' one.)
Check this out, it can help
I can't get it!! I select it using the wand tool... but i don't see where I can select the color white. The eraser tool doesn't do a darn thing! What in the world am I doing wrong?
Sorry, I'm not much help since I don't use Photoshop. Almost all elements your download are .png files though so not sure why you are having this problem. Maybe it has to do with how you are importing them?
If your magic want tool is the same as the one in my program, you don't choose the "color", you just click anywhere in the area that you want to select and it chooses all the area with that same color. Does that make sense?
Linda, I haven't the slightest clue about digi scrapbooking, so I'm no help at all, but I hope you get this resolved!

I figured it out!!! Simply by acident just now. I've been trying to figure this out for days! Phew!
Okay, so you have open the image you want, for example a star. You have the that page open as the main on and click on the item and drag it to the document below.
But you have to make sure it is saves as a PNG. If that doesn't make sense how I explained it, PM me.
Hmmm!!! I'll have to give that a try!!! I sure do hope it works because i'm getting frustrated with this. (usually I do the opposite - I have the main page open and I drag the elements up to the main page.... it will be interesting to see if it is totally different by opening the element as a main file and then dragging it down to the main page!!) Of course I just got to work, so I can't even do anything about it for another 8 hours!
Veronica, if this works, I'm going to shower you with kisses!
