? for you paper scrapbookers.....

What is the best kind of glue to buy? Is glue the best idea? I have used two sticks already and I have only made about 7 pages. What is the best thing? Thanks so much! We only have a Wal-Mart around too.

NO! Don't use glue!!!

Wal-Mart has what is called "photo splits" or something. Basically it is double-sided tape that is safe for your photos. They come in a box that has then divided up into squares. I find I can usually cut those squares in half to make it stretch longer. You just place those on the corners and middle of your picture and stick them down. They are much easier than glue and will not damage your photos. You should be able to find them in the scrapbooking aisle of the craft dept.

Let me know if you have any other questions on this! Biggrin

What's wrong with glue? Are you saying that b/c you can't use the pics later on? :-? I will look for that stuff tonight, but I doubt our Wal-Mart has it. It isn't even a super center. Thanks!

No, I'm saying that because glue damages the pictures in the long run. It can turn them yellow and eventually destroy them. The photo splits were made to protect your photos from damage. I'd be shocked if they didn't carry them!

If you can't find them, I can purchase a couple boxes and mail them to you if you want. Just PM me your address if they're not there. Smile

I use the following

http://store.scrapbook.com/bb-tm62202.html (safe for pasting your embleshments, B&T papers to cardstock and for pictures

http://store.scrapbook.com/gluedotsbminib.html - I use these for the heavier embleshments.

http://store.scrapbook.com/jv-1602.html - I use the mounting squares as described above for the pictures usually.

I use only scrapbooking glue when I'm gluing down this B&T papers or Card stock to another piece of paper.

But I agree don't use the glue on the pictures. It will ruin them in the future.

Hope this helps

Unless you got ACID free glue sticks meant for pictures, you shouldn't be using glue. I bought a glue stick designed for Scrapbooking and use the sticky dots too.

I use zot dots- clear adhesive dots(I got at walmart), mounting squares. foam squares, zig glue stick, elmer's craft bond glue pen. I mainly use the mounting squares(a double sided tape) to adhere paper and pictures, some embellishments. I use my glue pens for making embellishments, chipboard, etc. I've tried acid free glue sticks and I didn't like them, I've also tried tape runners and they were ok, I just prefer the mounting squares.

I use different adhesives, depending on what I am taping down. I use the zot dots alot. I also use dimensionals and tape runners. I really like the creative memories ones (but not available at stores). I also like the photo mounting squares that are clear. I use them for more than just pictures.

Did you have any luck at Walmart? I know that I have seen some of these things at the one near me.

I bought some double sided tape, but I am only using it for pic b/c it goes soooo fast. I have already finished a whole roll. Guess I need to check out the dollar store! I am using glue for everything else. It is the acid free/ non toxic stuff.

I usually use Herma dots in the runners. I really love those. When AC Moore does their half price coupons (there's one just for today, anyone need it?), I tend to buy a refill if there's nothing else pressing I need. I've also started to use glue dots, as I really like them too - they stick GOOD! I use the pop ups from time to time, but it's not a primary adhesive for me.

I can't say I've ever used a glue stick on my pages. But if they're acid free, I'd think they'd be fine. Otherwise, they wouldn't be sold in the SB area of Michael's and AC Moore.
